Clash of Clans

My current level of OCD won't let me stop playing this freakin game. I have a TH8 base that is three teslas and 4 bombs away from being maxed out. I have nothing left to spend elixer on, so I decided to just aggressively donate troops to try to finish off my Friend in Need thingy.

I'm in a farming only clan right now. I'm trying to decide whether or not to move to a war clan for a while with my maxed TH8 base. I primarily BARCH, but I GOWIPE every once in a while when my elixer and DE get up too high.

Have you maxed out all of your walls? Is everything researched? If that is the case, I would suggest going to TH9 but only if everything is maxed out and researched out.

After the Golem to lvl2, I just have hogs to lvl4 and valks to lvl2. I'm not all that excited about those upgrades because I NEVER use them.

And, yes, walls are maxed. I just have lvl5 teslas that need to be bumped up along with 4 bombs. After that, I'm completely maxed.

But, I think I would be much for of an asset to a war clan as a maxed TH8 than I would be as a weak TH9.

And, yes, I do all dragon raids every once in a while too when my elixer gets near max.

after playing a little while I could tell I needed friends to excel...so I stopped playing

Amazing base! Great job! Those dark elixir troops are BEAST in Clan Wars. When I attack its mostly gowipe or gowiwi. Having high lvl golems is key to a good tank and spank. If you want to join our clan the info is in previous posts by me. Just make sure to use my screen name if you apply.

Also check out One Hive on youtube.

Thanks, yeah, GOWIPE rawks! Sadly, I'm only TH8, so I haven't tried GOWIWI yet since I can't make witches until I upgrade.

I'll check out the youtube page. Thanks!

And, thanks for the invite, but my clan is a feeder to a war clan already. I prefer smaller (10 people) war clans where everyone has a clue. It's way too much drama when one clueless person messes it up for everyone.

Np at all. We are rolling 50 members and everyone is on point. One person fucks up and we kick them to our feeder clan. Good luck with the wars!

Yeah, having organized feeder clans really helps a lot. Plus, I'm only now starting to see how sophisticated some of these war clans can be. When I first started, I was in a stupid beginner clan that didn't know anything. But, we managed to win 30 wars in a row against a bunch of other beginners. We didn't know enough to close the clan during a war. I had no idea that people used spies to join the opposing clans to take screenshots of what's in everyone's clan castles.

Don't forget about where traps are placed as well. We recently had a clan report our clan name which got the leader banned for 48 hours (while we clan warred against these guys). We ended up kicking their butt so I guess its all good.

The art of 3 starring is amazing and truly an art.

Just sent you a PM, Entopic. Wouldn't mind checking out your clan. I'm a level 107 TH9, getting close to maxxing out.

Wait, the fuckers reported you specifically so you guys would be one person short in the war? That's some dirty shit right there!

That's the thing with games like these. It will cost either time or money to advance. I have spent a whopping total of $20. The rest of my TH9 base has just come with time. Probably entirely too much time. :laughing

This.

I got addicted when I hurt my back and was stuck in bed for three weeks straight in December/January. Playing 16 hours per day for three weeks really helps move you forward quickly.

If you did all that in 3 months on only $20 then...I'm speechless. I play a lot but just waiting for things to upgrade in TH6 is pushing me away from the game. I bought gems in the beginning and it was more fun advancing but I don't want to spend a bunch of money on a game...so now I put my guys to work, do some attacks in between, but at this point anything is just goi to take at least a day so there's not a lot to do I guess

Props to you,

I didn't do it all in 3 weeks. I went from a weak TH7 base to a maxed out TH8 base between December and now. Before then, what kept my attention was not just upgrading my stuff. Before then, I was in a clan that was warring constantly.

If you're bored with how long it takes to upgrade stuff at TH6, you're definitely gonna hate it moving forward. I'm at the point now where it takes 10 days to upgrade stuff. But, the fun for me is to make sure that I have enough gold to upgrade the next thing as soon as a builder frees up.

If you're bored waiting for a builder to free up, then always keep one free strictly for walls. That way, you are never waiting, and you will always have something to do.

Also, what troop distribution are you using? If you use expensive troops, then you end up having to wait a long time for them. When I have free time in the evenings, I use BAM (barbs, archers, and minions.) That way, I have 6 barracks working for me instead of 4. It makes it so that I can raid roughly every 8 minutes.

I can understand being bored if you already maxed out your walls for your TH level, but if you're sitting around waiting for your builders to free up and you still have walls to upgrade, then you are using them incorrectly.

Also, there is a lot of loot to be had in the 'get the goblin' raids. If you're bored, you should look into finishing all of them up. Early on, the loot is worthless, but the amount of gold and elixer in there is pretty awesome.

I've been keeping a builder free usually but being on vacation I just put em to work.

My current raiding strategy has been a dozen giants, 18 gobs, a healer, 6 wall breakers and the rest barbs. It's good for taking over most bases that seem abandoned with weak defenses and high loot. I realize the cost is high, but I only go for bases that yield in the six figures for gold and goop.

The walls are coming in slowly, but I've been mostly saving and spending in maxing out the rest of my buildings. Upgrading barracks takes a toll when it brings you down to only two.

I'll admit, I haven't looked into the best strategies. And I've never been a part of an active clan, so I don't know how the warring side of the game works.

Just a little advice for you. In general, you want to upgrade your splash defenses first. So, mortars, wizard towers, canons, then archers. And, yes, upgrading barracks is really frustrating because it really slows down how long it takes to train your troops.

The clan portion of the game makes it a bit more fun. There are two main types of clans:

1. Farming clans - never go to war
2. War clans - warring constantly

And, everything in between. The dynamic in each clan is slightly different. It's kinda like finding your your own section of BARF where you're happy. If you're looking for no drama, the farming clans tend to stay together longer. They're really all about helping each other. There tends to be a lot more drama and turnover in war clans. If you ever lose a war, you will always have at least one person rage quit and move on.

I'm in a farming clan right now where it is actually hard to donate troops. As soon as someone puts up a troop request, it is filled in less than 2 seconds. The fuckers are fast. It makes it a bit more fun.

Oh, and since you've never been in a clan, the app tracks how many troops you donate and how many you receive, and it's visible to everyone. The number resets every two weeks. That makes it so that the rest of your clan can see if you're mooching off everyone. In general, most clans like you to keep that ratio about 1:1. In my clan, we like 1:2 because everyone donates. So, we give each other shit if people are not helping people get their numbers up by requesting troops.

edit: one last thing, if you're just farming, you should put your town hall on the outside of your walls at the edge of the area and leave it undefended. This essentially buys you a shield for $1,000 or less (depending on who attacks you.) You lose trophies, but it's better than someone coming in and taking a shit load of your hard earned loot.

Our leader acted as a spy for 2 wars when he went to TH10 and his spell factory was upgrading. Seeing where the traps were let me 3 star all my attacks on other TH9s.

How do you report another clan? How do you know that's what really happened? What did he get banned 48 hrs for? I thought the only thing you could get suspended from was the Global chat if you're trolling it with offensive language.
