Clash of Clans

Billy, make sure you talk to folks before you attack. Most good war clans will employ very specific strategies and having folks attack willy-nilly is generally not conducive to success.

My first attack was so bad. I forgot the cardinal rule of dealing with the clan castle enemies first, and my whole force was taken out in about 10 seconds by some hammer throw character. :facepalm

Second attack I followed instructions better, but still managed zero stars bc I forgot to plant my own clan castle troops.

This war stuff is a lot different than farming... Hopefully I'll still be in come tomorrow after everyone sees the report

Don't worry about it, Billy. You'll get there. Use your farming raids to practice war attacks of various types. Hone your strategies against different types of bases. Figure out what attacks work best for you. You'll get there. And yes, pulling clan castle troops is essential. :laughing

Bill did awesome!

Even his second zero-star attack was better. You are still in. Don't worry about it!

fun times.

Erin and I were chatting during your attack and I was LOLing for reals.

It's funny reading the commentary afterward

"He's fucked"
"Yup"

When you dropped the drag with 45 seconds left I immediately looked to see if you at least had a Rage spell... or some meth.

can I change the title to "Clash of Clams" ?

Just like Lunch Box said, practice your war raids while you're farming. Wartime is not a time for you to bust out an attack that you've never used before. By the time you get to a war, you should be attacking a base that you know that you can beat with a set of troops that you know how to use.

I thought that "clash of clams" was slang for scissoring? :teeth :laughing

The biggest part of War attacks is to first pick your base you will be attacking, then building your army strategically to take it down.

Especially at TH8/TH9, the biggest part of success is to recognize the type of base you are attacking, then using the proper army/strategy to attack it.

The biggest rookie mistakes i see in war are:

1) Mixing air/ground troops with no clear direction of how to attack
2) Asking for random CC troops that do not factor in/compliment the army/strategy. IE: asking for wizards on a mass drag attack
3) Not deploying the CC troops at the right time/or not at all
4) Bringing the wrong spells. I see mass drag attacks with 2 lightning and 1 rage/heal all the time, which makes no sense. It takes 3 lightning to take out one AD.

edit: 5) never bring goblins to war......ever.....

All good points. I will add this, though: In most/all successful war clans, choosing the base to attack is not left to the individual. It is part of an orchestrated plan. Particularly, the first attack.

I am in a clan that was very successful at war but has recently switched to a farming clan (for now). I do miss war now and then, but I like my clan quite a bit and love how quickly troop requests are filled (and with decent troops, too). It makes it hard to leave, no matter how much I like war.

I'm TH9, with my last upgrades already in the works. 13 more days on my second xbow, and I will be maxed on defenses. My walls are about 50/50 level 8 and 9. I intend to stick at TH9 until I am at least half level 10, with the rest at level 9. It's going to take awhile. During the wall maxxing, I will keep increasing my AQ and BK levels. BK is currently being upgraded to level 11 and the AQ is 20.

Excellent point on picking the base. War is a team effort and requires a team coordination. 2 stars are not an option in war.

I'm in a constantly warring clan. We just started doing this to get the clan perks. With the new update where we can choose who goes to war it's awesome. We have a 10v10 with our lower levels one war, then a 15v15 of our upper boys, and a 20v20 where we mix the whole clan. i would still consider us a farming clan, even though we war 3 times a week since we do smaller wars during the week, and it is voluntary to who wants in.

Requests are filled pretty frequently. Our uppers always support the war troops, even if they aren't participating in the war.

Myself, i'm a mid th9. Max xbows/wt/ad. Just started my lego walls. Currently upgrading AT/Cannons/Mortars for defense. BK10/AQ11

I don't have much left for troop upgrades either. So pretty soon i'll be dumping elixir into lego walls. I'll probably go th10 once i finish Lego walls. Hopefully AQ20 will be done by then.

BK is currently being upgraded to level 11 and the AQ is 20.

So, is it true that when you get to TH9, people tend to stop upgrading the BK and just put all their DE into upgrading the AQ?

I'm a little less than a day away from my TH9 upgrade finishing up. I think I timed it perfectly. I have completely maxed out my gold and elixer, and I'm gonna be just shy of DE to get an AQ right away.

Right now, as soon as the TH9 upgrade is done, I'm planning to use the 6 million to buy both xbows right away. From there, it's back to the grind of stealing enough gold to upgrade a few walls per day. Thankfully, I can use elixer to do that now except that it just dawned on me that I'm gonna have 25 wall pieces that I have to bring up first.

Aris, that is the path that some folks take. I actually want to crank them both up. If you are someone who likes to attack with high frequency, there is a strong argument for not upgrading either past level 5 or 10 for a long time. They take too long to recover as they get higher level. I don't attack that often, as I work all day and am usually busy doing other things in the evening. Therefore, I want them to be more effective when I do attack. Hence, why I am interested in getting both to a high level.
