Colorful CHP's

There's about 100 of those "specially marked patrol vehicles," With around 108 field offices, that makes for around 1 per office. They'll be extremely rare to see in the wild.
Saw the Santa Cruz area one on 17 the other day. They're not hard to spot.

Be curious to hear how these Durango's hold up, they don't have a very good rep.
So far I've heard that they're fantastic to drive. They've been compared to the Chargers in terms of performance, but with more interior space. We'll see reliability measures in 6 months or so.

I remember when we switched to Explorers, the transmission blew like clockwork every 30k miles.

We noticed two of them driving between SD and LA, because they had pulled people over. Incredible hidden light displays. The whole side was lit up.

I go to Texas a couple of time a year, grandkids. Almost all of their Highway Patrol have hidden lights. Many are also pickups to blend in.

The gray one on the Cotati Grade is keeping busy. I've seen it 5 times. 4 of them with with cars pulled over and 1 came out of nowhere, passed me and pulled over a dumbass doing erratic lane changes. As long as they stay off of the backroads I'm cool with them.

Yeah, that gray Durango has been busy up here.
I ride the Cotati Grade every other day and see him "occupied" with someone each and every time. Always within 1/4 mile....he's found a fertile hunting ground.

Dunno about colorful, but I saw 9 (!!!!) of them posted up today along 84, 9, 35, 280.

I was in my car so if anyone saw a guy in a cage smacking his roof at you to give you a heads up, that was probably me.
Right On!!!!!!! You are awesome. A guy saved me on Hwy 17 one day, by doing that.

I saw a gray CHP slick top stealth vehicle generating some cash on Hwy 101 above Willits yesterday.
Be careful out there!

Thanks for the warning. Be grateful that the CHP is much more restrained in this than other states. In Washington, they often aren't even typical cop cars (e.g., Charger, Explorer, Yukon, etc.), and there's nothing on the door. It's not until the lights come on that you know you have an issue.

The worst example I've ever seen was in the UK. I saw a cop all dressed in black leather riding a black R1 with strobes in the turn signal bodies. I only knew he was a cop because he had someone pulled over. One patch on his leathers indicating he was a cop.

They been around for about 6 months, they bought a couple hundred of them. Curious to see how they hold up.

Has anybody seen one in the SF Bay Area?

First time I’ve seen one in Mendocino county, it’d be interesting to find out where they’re being deployed.

^^^Yes, they are around the Bay Area and Sacramento.

This generation of Durango has proved durable, particularly with the hemi.

I saw one yesterday on Brokaw pulling onto 880. It was in garish colors, with advertising regarding they are hiring. I thought it was a gaudy private patrol car at first. It did have very small lights.

They are deployed widely up and down the state.
