there might be a lot of new tech, but there's also a lot more asked for. plus big name actors want to be paid the big bucks. directors/studio heads want move vfx shots and.....this could be a thread all to its self, and I don't want to damper this enjoyable thread. :D
 
Your comic didn't take into account that the money earned in 1984 would be worth more now so they made less than 70% of what the originals made.

so adjusted for inflation the original made 665 million in today's money so then 227/665 they earned 34 cents on the dollar.

Also those values surely had nothing to do with the quality of the movie versus the cast.:teeth:teeth:teeth:teeth:teeth:teeth:teeth
