I'll be Debbie Downer here. My little brother (6 at the time) wanted to commit suicide to be with our youngest brother when he died.

Now I didn't serve in the Navy, but my dad did. I'm familiar with what a Blue Falcon is. Or at least I think I am. Are all E7s and up considered fuck ups and bus drivers? Or am I no comprehendo?

Well, when your official duty consists of driving a golf cart around base housing telling people to mow their lawns because you couldn't handle being a motor sergeant...(E7 right hand man to the warrant officer in charge of a motor pool)

I suppose it makes sense. Many years ago when my dad made CPO (as a Reservist), I asked him what he did when he left for those weekends.

"Stand around and look important" is what he told me.


Through one of my dad's friends, he and I got to take a tour/tiger cruise on the Carl Vinson about 20 years ago. Saw the mess hall, and then saw the Chief's Mess or "Blue Falcon Nest" (which is my new favorite term). Wow. Those dudes are like kings. They had ice cream and all kinds of shit in there!
 
I'm an E7, where's my golf cart? Oh, right, that's for the BF E7s.

Guess I don't deserve one. :laughing
 
The term "Blue Falcon" is associated with the US Army and not the Navy.

Also there is a huge difference between the terms "E-7" and "Chief Petty Officer" Chief Petty Officers had a hell of a lot of respect from officers and junior petty officers where E-7s didn't.

I was stationed on the Vinson from 83 to 87 - weapons department as the Weapons Elevator LPO :teeth
The world cruise in 83 was awesome :thumbup

Well someone thinks it's a Navy thing, hence this "Blue Falcon Nest" referring to the Chief's Mess.

But now you've all got me confused again. Isn't E7 a CPO? Or is there a different rank you can hold at E7? I know in the Army you can be Specialist or Corporal at E...4? Or somewhere around there.
