Commuting with extra protective gear?

ATGATT, Track, street, I always full gear, Ive seen what happens to those that didnt,

I tend to wear less gear when I'm commuting than when I'm actually going for a ride because I know I'll have to walk around w/ all my gear once I get wherever I'm going.

So you wear less gear when riding in the most hazardous riding conditions? Where's the sense in that?

If your gear is uncomfortable to walk around in, you've got the wrong gear.

My all around gear for now..

Icon Alliance Helmet
Speed and Strenth Jacket w/ elbow guards and back guard
Speed and Strenth pants with knee guards
Icon Field Armor back protector
Icon Field Armor boots
Fox CF gloves

I'm going to agree with the dude only in the sense that I start sweating bigtime after about 10-15 mins, Yeah I could remove the liner but It only helps a little. Other than that my gear is comfortable as hell. Especially the boots.

ATGATT

I have two sets of gear, track and street. The only difference is a comfort factor. But I still wear a full face (well, flip-up), back protector, riding boots, and full body coverage with armor, no matter where I am riding.

I don't ride in just jeans, or ride without my back protector, or riding boots, etc just because I think there is a smaller threat.

That. Exactly.:thumbup

I live in Pleasanton - where it can get hot. So I bought the Tourmaster mesh pants and jacket. They have the pads, but also let the air through.

I just figured if I bought leathers, I'd skip wearing them on hot days. With this setup, I have found that I always wear everything everytime I am on the bike (including full face helmet, leather gloves, and boots, of course - which are not vented).

And then I just "shed" it in the office if I ride to work.

But then, I don't do track.
