cpr performed on motorcyclist just outside of motogp exit

A friend rode by with a helmet cam and posted this video of the accident
That was a different crash:
The 50-year-old Ojai man killed Monday in a motorcycle crash near Oak View has been identified as Jerry Myers, according to the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Myers was riding a motorcycle north on Highway 33 near Creek Road about 3 p.m. Monday when he crossed over a double-yellow line and hit a sport utility vehicle traveling south, the California Highway Patrol reported.

Wow, I have seen you do some serious trolling in other threads, but this is really sick. One of these 'retards' is workmate's friend. Sadly, he has left a wife and three children. Unless you witnessed the accident first hand, your speculation is just as insulting as blaming it on the LEOs or anyone else.

I was commenting on the facts as presented here, not speculating about what actually happened. If it happened as described here, the primary contributors to this accident were the asspacker, the u turners and the speeding rider who failed to adjust for the cross traffic conditions. They all made dumb decisions - all of which were avoidable with only a small amount of common sense and personal responsibility - that turned into a tragedy. Sadly, none of them exhibited those traits and that's why we have this thread. It's their fault. It's not the cops' fault, it's not SCRAMP's fault, it's the fault of the parties directly involved in the accident. Inattentiveness, impatience, and lack of defensive riding = mayhem.

I use the word retard because I'm old and I'm tired of reading agout people who were killed or maimed in 'accidents' that were easily avoidable but for stupid behavior. And I'm sick of all the fucking excuses people make to defend this behavior.

does it necessitate disrespecting dead people? everyone errs, being a rider i am sure you sped up multiple times too and you were just lucky enough not to die when you were speeding. just have some compassion for a dead rider.

I wasn't disrepecting dead people, I was countering those pushing any responsiblity whatsoever on the cops or anyone else other than the riders involved. And, like I said, I'm old enough that when I was raised the word retard wasn't anything more than a synonym for dumb. Sorry if I wasn't PC enough for this brave new world we live in.

And yes, I've sped and I've even totalled a bike and nearly killed myself. Guess what? It was all my fault and I was behaving like a retard.

I'm with you here and I don't mind you calling someone a retard when they deserve to be called a retard, regardless if they're alive or dead.

I swear, BARF is getting out of hand with this holier than thou and all this high and mighty "omg don't say that, that's so mean I'd never disrespect someone like that" shit.

I agree that the ultimate responsibility lies with the rider(s) and I don't blame the cops for this death like some others here.

expressions a lost on the internet. the way you said it came out very rude (at least the way I saw it). you have the right to say whatever you want to and no one can take it away from you.

isn't that the attitude that you are showing here :rolleyes. Calling someone a "retard" for making the same mistake you make just because you didn't endure the same consequences doesn't necessarily mean that you are better than that "retard".

I am going to break up the sympathy, empathy, P.C., discussion to stir up some other junk.
SCRAMP is famous for total failure of traffic control. Like everything is "unknown" and a lesson learned for next year.

For cryin out loud, Disney land controls the massive flow of traffic in and out, so smooth it's a pleasure to be in that place.

And defending them with Disney Land gets 365 days a year practice, is Nut's.
SCRAMP is a NON-profit organization. All the roads in and out of Laguna Seca are on government land and not in control of SCRAMP. Regardless, the comparison is ridiculous.

How many lanes, entries/exits and multi-lane roads are there going into Disneyland? It took YEARS and YEARS to get that all done, much of which was at the expense of Disneyland. Some was bond issues floated by the city.

The first years that Disneyland was open, the traffic use to back-up for miles on the Freeway to get IN. Fact Jack. I was there from opening day.

Humm, when was opening day? I know it was up and running when I visited it in 1959, But it seemed pretty new then. And I lived a few blocks from there in 1964, And everyone that came to town to visit, had to go to Disney Land (and the lowest cost place to spend a full day of entertainment, like that).

But that isn't the point...directing traffic is. I guess You've never been at Laguna Seca after the race, and the whole freakin crowd is on it's own to push and shove and sit in gridlock for hours...because Scramp personel (hired traffic control) are gone..for them the race is over and the spectators are on their own at that time.

I used to work at the next property over. (Ryan Ranch) and living right there, I got free tickets up the Ying Yang, because there was no shortage of people buying advance tickets, and then at the last minute (or a day) their plans changed and couldn't go.

You didn't have any bad drug experiences in Santa Cruz that stuck with you..did you? :rofl

Its call trolling right? If calling someone a name is not trolling, the I don't know what trolling is. Heck, I was suspended for seven days not too long ago on barf and I didn't even call anyone names. I Just questioned how the hell a person got a job as a LEO with a shitty attitude and personality. :rofl

Disneyland History
On a personal note: I use have a brass lapel pin with Mickey and a number on it. It let me go anywhere that I wanted to go at Disneyland. Pretty cool for a little kid.

I have probably been to over fifty events at Laguna. I go back a LONG way with that place. And you STILL aren't getting it. SCRAMP handles the RACING. You will note that at MotoGP all the traffic control INSIDE the racetrack grounds is handled by hired hands. Outside it is local law enforcement.

"It's their fault. It's not the cops' fault, it's not SCRAMP's fault, it's the fault of the parties directly involved in the accident."

When you put 30,000 bikes onto a road with a right turn only when 25,000 of them need to turn left you help create the conditions that led to the U-turns and fudge packing. In this tragic albeit limited experiment once traffic control was set up to allow for left turns there were no fatal accidents.

^^^^

There were no fatal accidents for the last 2 years that they have forced the right turn.

I love how everybody gets upset about the traffic and how it takes so long to get out of Laguna. Then when something is done to keep traffic flowing (forcing the right turn) everybody gets upset because you can no longer turn left (which is what creates the traffic getting out of the track). If people would just look at a map, they would be able to figure out how to get to where they are going.

Gad, are we beating this to death. I haven't seen ONE person blame anyone other than the rider. I blame the bikers for stopping in the road and pulling a U turn in that location, too.

I was assuming that the people were stopped because of traffic. If they were stopped because they or somone else was attempting u-turns, then yes, some more blame goes around.

This reminds me of the (only?) useful thing that I remember learning at Traffic School a year ago. When waiting to make a left (or U-ey) don't turn your wheels. Only turn your wheels when you get moving. This way if you get rear-ended while waiting, you go straight - not across the road into oncoming.

I don't know if that would have helped here, but something to keep in mind for us all in the future.

Good advice, for sure. Though on a bike, when you get hit from behind, you rarely get hit squarely enough so the hit bikes just continues forward. It inevitably leans one way or the other and the bike shoots off to the side accordingly. Still, it's good advice.

"If people would just look at a map, they would be able to figure out how to get to where they are going. "

I planned my exit strategy only to have it go to hell when I hit the no left turn at the exit. If they had the foresight to put up detour signs saying "Highway 1" down Reservation to the left on Davis(?) to the left on Blanco and back to Reservation riders would not have had nearly the incentive to make U turns.
Still, allowing a left turn with traffic control was the better choice.
