cruzin' in Hawaii

Brah you know how hard and long it takes to imu one pig? Not too much imu'ing to be done in Oahu (except at the luau's...the tourist luau's that is) and plus...easier to buy kahlua pig. Kinda like the filipinos around here....we can do lechon but would rather buy it. :p

My folks in Hawaii and Kauai though....

Plus the food here is not just what you think is traditional Hawaii food (kahlua pig, poi, lomi salmon, lau lau...brah you just basically listed the 'what the haole's know is hawaiian food'). A lot of the local grindz in Hawaii cannot be found anywhere else but in Hawaii. Yeah we got L&L (junk imo) and a plate lunch place here and there. But you can't just go to the local store and get a pound of Ahi poke and one pound of tako poke w/ kim chee. Or hawaiian style malasada (like Leonards). Spam musubi at 7-11. Podogee sausage and rice/eggs at Macdonalds. The list goes on... :cool

Great video! They gotta build one good racetrack there! Maybe not on Oahu but at least on Maui or Kauai. They made one ferry that can take people across the ocean to the neighboring islands! People can transport their bikes or cars for trackdays or a race for the weekend or somthing. Now that would be mean kine! Hawaii would have everything!
Great food, great bikes, and the finest women! Huli ma'ka flip! LOL!

Awready get'em brah. The Super Ferry. :cool

yea imu'ing a pig takes a while, but its soo worth the wait. good to do atleast couple times (live) for each generation to see (no, internet google search on how to imu is not the same), and maybe they can learn how to do it later so it doesnt die. yea, fa sho easier to buy and support local businesses...but, dam homemade is bomb.

I don't know if I should say this but, I'll chance'm since nobody knows my name! Secret Poke Spot. Aunte makem when you order. Kinda across from where JJs used to be but on the other side of the street. I hope they are still there. If they are -- I left a clue, you still gotta find it.

Haha, great thread. My grandma in Kailua still believes that Oahu is sinking:rofl
But damn, didn't realize there wasn't a helmet law on the islands. That's crazy.
And no one has mentioned Leonards malasadas yet?:thumbdown

Fo' U bruddah!

The Malasada truck! I like the ones covered in cinnamon

Good seeing you today Jared, we should do a Tuesday ride and eat Hawaiian food afterword. :drool

How about the coco puffs from the kalihi bakery

Hey Jared,
Did you stop by any shave ice stands?

Li hing mui shave ice! Or basically Li hing mui anything.
Anyone familiar with Maui style ice creme? It always comes in the little plastic cups in the frozen section. Or chi chi dango (basically just flavored mochi that is incredibly fresh). Man if anyone knows of a place in the bay area where I can get any of that stuff, let me know!

Someone should make one Hawaiian braddah's ride, then have one BBQ with lau lau ka'lua pig, some zippy's chilli, and fresh ahi poke. That would be mean kine ah! Nah but we in one hell of a resession right now so that would be impossible.

What about the shrimp trucks up in North Shore? I would have loved to ride up there... Grab some garlic shrimp, crack open a fresh coconut, and then just chill there watching the palm trees sway in the breeze...
