Degenerative Disc Issues

Hopefully you never get any serious nerve pain... it doesn't give you that option.
It's kinda like trying "work through" being hit with a taser. :laughing

Probably true.
I work out 7 days a week to keep my body in good shape. 4 days riding 10 miles in 36-38 minutes, 3 days in the gym finishing with hand crank machine for cardio.

Too many people stop working out when they hit their 40's. Keep working out for life and you'll live longer and better life.

:laughing That is me every night when I stretch my shoulder. :laughing

Beside the clunking gears the zaps of pain make it really hard to push through.
I use straps, my cane, small weights with gravity, pillow supports to minimize the zaps.... it is not a normal sort of lay there and enjoy TV kind of life.

I'll tell the surgeon that damaged the femoral nerve in my hip! :laughing

Was he very good or a surgeon who got careless?
Just bad luck, I think. He's a kaiser surgeon that does hip replacements all day, 3 days a week... mistakes are bound to happen.
It's been about 3 years now. I'm over worrying about how it happened.

it's a distraction from the pain.
You know what's a distraction from pain? Worse pain!
While I was recently passing a kidney stone, I could barely feel my hip, neck, back, shoulder or leg. :laughing

Some skit, he hit his thumb with a hammer and is complaining about the pain. The other guy stomps on his foot so now he's complaining about his foot. And he asks, well, how does your thumb feel now...

Ellis Eye doctor screwed up my eyes, turns out I'm far from the only one. An optomitrist told me that he has left a long trail of people with damaged eyes.

Just because a doctor does something many times doesn't mean they're competent or careful. I tried to sue the Ellis doctor but no lawyer would take the case regardless of the neglegence in how he does things. His legal docs that you have to sign are too thorough.

@ Santa Clara?

I know not the same, but I bought a TENS device. I use it on my back and it's a distraction from the pain.
I have a love/hate relationship with the TENS device.
I pull it outta the drawer about once a year with a new set of optimism.
For the first few minutes it feels too powerful on even the lower settings, but I can see the benefit.
Within 5 minutes I've gotten used to the zaps and find myself turning it up to max.
5 minutes after that it just feels like just a low current annoyance.
I know....I've heard good things....
Perhaps I just have too much resistance in my body. I'll ask my doctor if he can "Ohm me out" next time. :laughing

All electrical stimulation is not equal. Transcutaneous electric stim (TENS) is a distractive decoy and can work well for some by overriding the underlying pain signal when it is on low. When cranked up it is a muscle contractor, painful and not the intended use. Russian stim is soley a muscle contractor. Interferential stim uses interfering currents to push deep inflammation from an area. Acu stim zaps points to promote flow. Each has it’s purpose.

Oh I double checked into it and the shockwave therapy has been developed from the high strength ultrasound used to blast kidney stones. The side effect there is the chards flying into adjacent tissue. Many strengths are available including cheaper weaker home models. This is supposed to break down body adhesions whether calcified or not. The problem is that it doesn’t know a spur from a bone. Therefore a knowledgeable practitioner is recommended. Regular therapeutic ultrasound has it’s proponents as well.
Endless Curiosity, too little time
