This is the DOJ anti-spam solution they announced early this year. You sign up and it "orders" spammers to stop sending you shit. They threw the On switch almost 2 weeks ago- has anyone had good resaults? Me- not so much. Nice start, but is was if the spammers learned wqorkarounds a day or two after and off to the races we go. Here's my Junk Mail folder count since they threw the switch, note the count trend;
Date Count
8/12 39
8/11 42
8/10 31
8/9 39
8/8 26
8/7 42
8/6 37
8/5 35
8/4 26
8/3 21
8/2 8 (switch turned on)
8/1 21

A person/company is given a list of people and told,

"These are legitimate email addresses. Please, do not email them."

The same was done with the DO NOT CALL list. By your anecdotal stats, looks to be not-working, as the phone list failed as well.

Unless someone is monitoring, spammers gonna spam.

Unless spammers are given jail time, it will never stop. I get very little spam. I put that down to never answering calls I don’t recognize and not clicking on anything suspicious or unknown to me. This includes websites that ask for ID’s like news companies. Be extremely selective on what you click on.

There is a fine written in the law, but of course its hard to collect from intrawebnet vapor... Now I wonder if they found a way to privatize enforcement with a juicey financial award- the bastids would roll over on each other like a golden retriever.

The real downside is that they exist because they’re successful.

Mine went from 30-40 daily to 3 yesterday then only 1 so far today.

i get several calls a day. i started having my phone screen unknown calls and it has reduced my headaches by 90%

If I'm not busy, I've been known to answer just so I can fuck with them and waste a bunch of their time. :laughing

i got a call and the screener said it was from my credit card company, so i answer. "did you make charges recently to blah blah blah?" "no, i haven't used that card in years, it's fraud." "okay we will mark all of the recent transactions as fraud, close the card, and send a new one"

fast forward to today. i get my first statement in the mail. there's a balance! WTF?! 😡 so when the guy said "we will mark all of the recent transactions as fraud" he let one of the charges transfer from the old card...

god dammit do not do any business with bank of montreal...sorry BMO...sorry BEEMOE...maybe try BE BETTER...fuck sticks
