Ultra-wides are a hoot. One suggestion, make sure you have a subject literally within arm's reach when shooting so wide, otherwise you just end up with a lot of really small things in the frame.

For instance (14-24, literally about 4-6" away)

Anyone in SF/bay area want to go urban photo shooting??? I have a XS w/ 18-55mm and 75-300mm lens.
 
Jeff-any ideas? I like to ride my bicycle/moto and go photo hunting. I especially like night shooting.

Haven't really tried urban photo. So it will be new to me. Schedule will be my only issue. Those who know me know that my kids have something going every night of the week. So it might have to be a weekend thing if I was to make it.
 
It'd have to be a weekend these days regardless, unless we want to commit to night shooting.
 
I'm down for that, but the father ahead we plan, the greater the likelihood I can actually make it.

Alright, who's serious about doing a photo safari??? I'm thinking chinatown guerrilla shooting would be fun, but it'd be harder because those crafty chinese (older gen) are quite paranoid.

I'm into it. I just got a D40 that I want to get to know. I'll be out of town from the 16th-23rd though. nights are fine for me.

Like to do the Chinatown thing but it would have to be on a weekend later in the month or February.

very nice. especially like that last one of the Chevy Truck. I'm down with an urban photo shoot. Did that in Chinatown once, I'll have to dig up the photos and get some critique on it

thinkin' about gettin' my first DSLR. would a Nikon D50 be a good cam to start off with?
 
Someone propose some dates for the urban photo safari. I could do 01/31, 02/28, 03/14, 03/28, as of right now.
