Dirty Barf Camping Trip?

What about Elkins Flat/Gold Note?
It’ll be snowed in for a bit(it’s off highway 88) but has Rome to accommodate a big group

that big reservoir area looks nice if theres moto camping allowed there. we could grab that end section for the group(south east? over that bridge). now the dates. i vote october 24-27?

And then there’s Frank Raines, behind Mt Hamilton, near the Junction on DelPuerto. Some rally thing next weekend 4-13-19... I’ll create a thread for that.

The problem I have with Frank Raines is that most of the riding there is either beginner or expert, not much in between.

Has anyone been to Hungry Valley/Los Padres (down south)? Thinking about heading there the weekend of the 19th but it is a 4.5 hour drive from SF. Worth it?

Los Padres worth it if there is no snow. Hungry Valley is fun to explore but mostly just open sand washes and a few rolling hills to play on!

can you ride your bike out from big resevoir or do you have to truck it out?

I like the idea of Forest Hill. Being that FH isn’t that close it isn’t as readily available as HH is. Hollister is still a great place camp and ride though.

Keeping an eye out. Was at last year's rained out Stony trip. Was looking forward to the next event. Still wrapping up ski season, so have not taken the bikes out yet this winter/spring.

does anyone know if you can ride out from big reservoir or do you have to truck your bike to the trail?

In the past, it was plated only, could ride out of camp.
Or push them about 100 yards, out of the property boundary, and ride off.

from what im reading in the reviews Big Reservoir doesnt sound like a good place for us to camp :laughing seems like forest hill will be the place just need to find camp. hell we could always chip in for porta potty rental :laughing

What about a group camp in the Sugar Pine Staging area... or is that not allowed? There is a pit toilet... no water source but easy access to reservoir and variety of trails. Or China camp - - but that's even further from the reservoir.

I talked to Stony folks today. Grey Pine looks to be closed until July 2020.
