Perfect drone use case.

Perfect drone use case.

Good idea but you'd need a damn good drone with a long battery life and range to get into the fire zone from where they have the road closed. Whose got a plane and wants to go halfsies on fuel

From Byke’s description the trails out of China Camp aren’t beginner friendly.

They are not. Definitely not. That's why I am thinking Sugar Pines staging area. It's definitely large enough and has a pit toilet. Easy trails and easy access. Reservoir is only a mile or two down the road.

You know the Weaverville Rally might make an awesome dirty barfing event as well. Many trails and camps near the hotel.

I'm interested, finally getting the Husky switched to DS mode. Pretty much an utter noob tho.

It'd be nice if you had at least one other DS buddy, but there are tons of great fire roads out there for exploring and even a bit of the Western States Trail where you can see some old mining equipment, old cabin and car and stuff. You can take dirt roads to Soda Springs, hit the train tunnels if it's open, have lunch in Truckee, lots of fun to be had for a noob on a 610. Some of the Sugar Pine trails would also be fun as long as you have the right mindset (i.e. don't put pressure on yourself, just enjoy the outdoors and take it easy).

Thanks, that does sound great! I might do a couple local shakedowns then hit the Sierra's for a long weekend. Suspect it might take a while for the trails to open up!
