Do you need a gun while driving in Oakland?

LOL some of the white guys in my neighborhood will blast you faster than the thugs no bullshit. My Caucasian neighbors have patrol cars at their house on an almost bi-weekly basis becasue of meth, hoes,...etc. Its the mentality not the skin color in my opinion.

Some of the most gangster dudes I knew in LA were white and lived in Venice and Santa Monica their parents had money which granted these dudes access to shit gang bangers in the hood only dream about.

I saw my one neighbor fooling around with an AK magazine. I told him "I hope that only holds 10" and he gave me a smirk. They have one of those artist co-ops anyone breaks into one of those places is in for a rude awakening.

I keep hearing people tell others to get educated and learn "facts" as if that's all there is to the equation. It's really not all there is. There are a lot of ways to interpret what facts are available. Some of it is driven by people's life experience, some by their personal priorities and all of this overlays whatever they do or don't know about the "facts."

These threads rarely showcase discussion without derision, but I wish they would or could.

some people don't give a f**k about any of that and are looking to chalk up their body count. Or someone is goading them. Or they're high as f**k and don't give two sh*ts about how victim" you look or not.

It's all about responsibility. You can do everything you can to take it, or find every excuse to avoid it, or somewhere in between depending on how you "feel".

A BARF member knows the victim in this case, and believes there was NO mouthing off or "attitude" and still he's a casualty.

One can only run so far. Situational awareness sometimes is just early warning for what is coming no matter what you do. I prefer options, not being told I can't have them. I at least want the confidence of knowing I can be on par with these guys. Or not having to devote 5 hours a day to a gym and training just to physically balance what a bunch of unemployed d*cks do all day long.

I should NOT have to modify my law abiding life just to accomodate their criminal choices. And if it takes technology, tactics and a greater amount of force than the criminals who initiate the interaction wanted, too f**king bad.

Nor should I spend more time in jail for having an "illegally concealed weapon" than some joker who pulls a knife or gun or baseball bat on someone. Especially when that crook has an illegally possessed weapon of his own.

From what I understand from my gun-nut roommate, it is illegal to carry a loaded gun with a mag in it, which is what I was getting at in my first post.

Whether or not you do that is up to you. I just figured anyone fighting the good ol' gun fight with how safe and whatnot it is to have one may actually follow the law.
As someone who regularly has a gun pulled on me because I come home late or my roommate wakes up at night, hears me in my room and I don't answer him asking my name because I have headphones on, forgive me if I don't think they're for everyone or every situation.

I suppose in this case if you had a gun and loaded it and had it at the ready, then yes it would make a difference.
And come to think of it, two guys in Oakland hitting you from behind is a good reason to do that.

Telling people that acting "Tough", be aware, and not look like a "Victim", etc is not always enough and frankly is nothing more than anecdotal advice based on your own personal experience which will not be the same of others in society or the countless of situations that occur everyday in this country. Besides how many tough looking, "I'm not gonna look like a victim" brothas have been shot and killed in the hood simply walking home, chatting with friends, sitting in front of their front yard, etc even when they had no involvement in gangs, thug life, etc? I'd say more than a handful in fact. Do you remember that shooting of that one guy in Oakland who used to bring his truck around to help feed the homeless and preach to them at night? Yeah I'm sure you do but if you don't then here is a reminder that life isn't a box of chocolates and sometimes there are people out there who could care less about another person's life.

Not only that you could say that motorcycle crashes (whether its your fault or not it is still a crash and not "accident") are pretty much inevitable statistically speaking. The only real issue of debate is what will be the level of physical injury a rider will encounter in a given crash.
