I have saved tens of thousands of dollars over the years by self insuring for collision and comprehensive. I've been lucky and never hit anyone, plus I am a great rider and driver... As are we all.
Our liability in an accident is the same when we ride dirtbikes in public places as we we ride or drive a car on the road. I think some folks may have inadequate coverage for that. I was ignorant of that when I was twenty something.
