Double Dog did you guys really make this kickstand?

Who would spend $295 on a CF kickstand for a NINJA 250 lol

"Kawasaki Ninja 250 Carbon Fiber Kickstand: Fits the 2008 Ninja 250 onwards. Structural compression molded carbon fiber real in matte finish."

Pretty good product for a customer base that decided to spend $4k to $6k on a ninja 250 to begin with.

oh well be in the position of the folks in the 'group buy' months ago and what their backside feels like...:wtf

So you are saying they got the equivalent of forcible sodomy because their expectations weren't met? Why can't they just get their money back? Has anybody contacted DoubleDog to tell them they're displeased?

There's a difference between being the victim of fraud or unethical behavior and just being disappointed. All I'm saying is give them a chance to make it right. If they won't, then the gloves come off. If you own a business, you'd understand.

I would agree a CO, persons of interest should be allowed the opportunity to right the ship and perhaps that will take place in this instance at some point.

+1

Personally I give business's a huuuugggeeeee chance to make things right for me and I don't hold them to unreasonable expectations. This has always worked out well for me. Everyone I've dealt with were normal people trying to make money.
"Hey your junk sucks can I have a new/better one or my money?"
"We're more than happy to refund you but we will have the correct product ready in 3 weeks if you can wait."
"Oh yeah sure. I've made mistakes lotsa times. That sounds great."
"OH THANK YOU!!!! As a show of appreciation we'll cover shipping and tax on everything and give a you a 15% off coupon for next."
"Hell yeah!!! Deal!!!! Thank you!!!"

A lot of cool moto stuff comes form small companies that don't perfect quality control for one reason or another. Granted they should tell you that but folks should understand on their own.
If you want a guaranteed product to work as expected with no surprises ever buy Bud Light or Hanes tighty whitys from Target.
Want something cool and brand new that no one else has? You might have to deal with stuff.

I still buy from the shop that took my entire $2,000 life savings and sold me a horrible pos first bike and over priced helmet 2 sizes too big.....cuz well, that guy isn't there anymore. Even if he was I just wouldn't buy anything with commission from him.

This saga is well covered at the R1-Forum, and I believe the group buy members are already working with Double Dog in getting an explanation/resolution in the most appropriate manner. If the OP of this thread was not included in the group buy, I'm not sure of his intent in bringing this issue to BARF other than DD being based here in the Bay Area.

This isn't an issue of fraud, but the members have an issue with the inconsistency in the product that was delivered. Inconsistency against the product advertised, and even inconsistency between each of the members' (disappointing) units. Apart from the subpar finish on their products, I believe the bigger issue was that the CF kickstands were not fabricated to the necessary specs, despite the group buy members having provided DD with OEM kickstands to use for measurements; incorrect length, way off position of the return spring arm on the kickstand, the foot of the stand not sitting flush on the ground, etc. They were basically left with an expensive, but unuseable product.

This all may be very true, but still--DD deserves a chance to make it right. I think it's dickish to expose a company to bad publicity, with no opportunity to explain, before a problem or mistake has been resolved. Again, put yourself in their shoes.

I don't know the first thing about running a business, so there's no point in me trying put myself in DD's shoes. My last post was not a rebuttal, but more for the information for the rest of BARF that does not know the full story. Like I said, I don't know the OP's intent for bringing this issue that's ongoing at the R1-Forums, here on BARF.

The R1-Forum guys are giving DD an opportunity to make it right, or at least, an explanation for the massive discrepancy over what was promised, and what was delivered. Matter of fact, those that were not part of the group buy are discouraged to be so opinionated on what's transpired so far, out of respect for Double Dog Moto (they even frowned upon a member who posted directly on DD's Facebook page). Those that have already paid, waited months, and received their disappointing units are practicing even more discipline in trying to work with DD towards a resolution.

This is new information. That changes things, but still. Clearly this isn't fully resolved and we still haven't heard from DD, so I don't know how appropriate this thread is or what the OP is hoping to achieve with it.

Ok now that that's settled, can we get back to the main point?? That a cf kickstand is friggen retarded:rofl:twofinger

I posed a simple question. I am not a reporter like you. I am a consumer. What more is there to read into a product received that was not what was advertised? Seeing as a couple of the people involved are my friends, I'd like to see them get some proper customer service.

so whats the best mod on your bike?

A carbon fiber cupbolder to hold my starbux so it doesn't spill when I'm riding and talkin on the phone...which has a CF protector on it.:rofl:twofinger

I do agree that the idea of having a carbon fiber kickstand is a little.... silly, but I don't understand the questions regarding the quality of it? I understand fitment issues, but people in this thread are posting like the quality of the carbon itself is poor. Looks like a good looking piece to me... not sure what I'm missing.

It's exceedingly poor if i may say so, notwithstanding the poor fitment aspect of course. :teeth

That's your opinion, but..I've been involved with Mechanical design Engineers (as a tool & die maker and Prototype Machinist) in companies making stuff for consumers.

We test our products. We finalize the product, before we sell it to the customer.

We don't use our customer as quality control...we do that inhouse.

The only thing "Dickish" that happened here, was DD's Business practice.

Buy it, Use it, That will tell you. Then You will know good from bad, by looking at it, in the future.

:thumbup +100 the way that thing looks I could see coming out from starbux and finding your bike on it's side with a snapped off kickstand or worse yet embedded into the side of some lawyers Mercedes. Better yet stop for a lil break on a weekend ride and find out it's not there any more.

It's not something I'd ever buy, but thank you DAD for teaching me a lesson. :rolleyes Cuz that's what I was asking when I asked why it was of poor quality, OTHER THAN THE FITMENT. :rolleyes
