Ducati 1198S or MV Agusta f4

The primary factors in your buying decision are looks and sound?

Have you actually ridden either one?

Both but performance matter more. The only real thing
I don't like about the MV is the headlight. Other than that it
look good but so does the Duc.
I haven't had the lucky chance to rider them both so I think
if they allow. Take both of them for a spin.

well I'm still thinking but it is hard to pick from the two. MV = looks and
Duc. = killer sound so very hard to pick from the two. As for parts, I think the Duc is easier to find part as I believe more riders ride Duc. than MV but not sure about that.

Buy both and park them in your living room: MV up front to look at, Duc in the back to listen to.

Then go get a S1000RR to ride on, or an 848 if you must have a twin-- either will handle better.

Fuck it, get the mv and stuff an 1198 engine in there somehow and own the world. MV is sexier, but neither is a bad choice. It's like banging two super model sluts! they will both make you explode.
:wtf

I don't believe you... :x

Get a Vespa... You'll bag more chicks that way... :drool

I'm being serious..! :later

Buy neither......

Do you have an opinion on inline-four versus V-twin?

Personally, I don't like how inline-fours (or threes) feel in the midrange, but love the feel of a V-twin. A couple of years ago I took a test ride on a Triumph Sprint ST 1050 three cylinder out at Tri-Valley Moto. I liked the handling of the bike and felt that it had enough power, but something was missing in how the engine felt. When I got back I asked if the KTM 990 Adventure was also available for a test ride and they let me take that out too. As soon as I pulled away from the dealership, my first thought was "now that's a good powerband".

It took me two years, but now I own that very bike. It doesn't feel like a Ducati engine because it's a 75 degree V-twin rather than 90 degrees, but it still has power that I like, even if it is a bit rougher.

I would encourage you to base your decision on the engine power characteristics, since you can't seem to decide otherwise.

KTM RC8R or the MV AGUSTA . I do love the Ducati though...

Really:laughing I was going :wtf with that looks and sound thing myself...I can overlook that for someone buying a Harley (low expectations) but one of these bikes...Holy Camoly...shouldn't a rider know what it is all about?

No, damn it..! Get this one... :party

This.

Personally, I can't imagine a better sounding bike than an MV Augusta. And, I am no inline fanboy, but sheesh, the MV motor/exhaust sounds fantastic.

The duc sounds like it is farting and getting ready to blow it's clutch up.

V-Twins=not the best sounding engines.

V-twin with dry clutch=earache

Best sounding engine=V4. Hands down.

I can already see OP doing this: :wtf, :confused,:dunno.

:rofl

V-twins aren't suppose to sound like a VFR... :thumbdown

nothing right now but had an 04 R1 for 4yr and had the 2009 gixxer 1000 which I didn't like. Now I'm just waiting to see what the 2011 will bring but
always loved both the MV and 1198.

The 1198 and MV look great, both of them are torture racks though, the S1000RR is a gentlemen's bike, that feels like a 600 and can't be touched by any of those in terms of outright performance...FTW.

He wants a bike that is nice to look at. :)

And then I looked at your avatar. Right.

On that note, to me the 1198/1098/848 is the best looking bike out right now, IMO, but if you want to get the "oooh's & ahhhhs" this year it's the S1000RR turn (also being bike of the year, doesn't hurt). Here's why, both the Duc and and MV are 3 year old designs and most people ignore those that ride MV's as they typically can't ride and want street cred because of the bike they ride, street cred is not given it's earned, now take a look at any riders tires, that real street cred.
