ducati hypermotard thoughts

By reading what Paul Smart has to say, and what you have had to say...

I'm sayin Paul Smart is savvy, and you don't know Shit from Shineola.

Was he talking about his bike? Or was he talking about single cylinders?

Someone on the internet might be wrong! :afm199

i had my mind set on the 796... now i dont..

almost everything ive read now says to go for the 1100.

Good move, this bike opens up, in versatility, riding and riding in ways, that previous bikes didn't have....
That also means there was a shortage of knowing what you need...When Ya haven't done it.

And there will be moment's (could be measured in feet) when You say, I'd be better off with the 796...But there will be tons of moments when nothing less than the 1100, will cut it.

How this works out, depends on you, what you do, where you do it...

Do You make that pass, cause there is no reason not to...
Or do you drop in behind that road slug, and do things on the road slugs terms?

I had a HM1000S and no matter how much I rode it could never get comfortable with its powerband. It wasn't a good sportsbike and it wasn't a good supermoto and all the power before 5k then no power from 6 on up just doesn't work for me- granted, pulling the wheel out of every turn was fun for a little while, but even solid gold pussy gets old.

If you're looking to be fast on the street, get something as light as possible. If you're looking for maximum fun, these bloated tards are fun.
Win
Ydepends on their riding skill, and where they were riding.

And percentage of the locations or types of riding.

Power is a function of twisting the throttle...and that isn't getting done if one is struggling with the weight and size, of the bike.
Win, but contradicts your later FAIL inferring that the 1100 is going to make you pass faster; a 796 in the right hands could do just as good a job based on who is in control of the throttle. Why would an experienced rider suggest 1100 ccs to any rider as being better?

Most of the 1000cc sportbike riders i know eventually buy 600s, nit the other way around.
And avoid the lady's version; get the 1100.
Women's view: The extra cc's, much like a dick, are worthless if you can't hold onto it. Or so I here, lol. :)

Another fAIL thread for newbies.

Ttsang...find people willing to let you teat drive the bikes you thought you might be interested in before deciding based solely on this thread.:ride

You're such a manly man. Wow. I bet you have a huge cock and ride really really really fast.

If the flame throwing is coming the person with the WHITE skinny jeans and baseball cap on sideways, I can say I am confident in my manhood considering the accuser.

My riding skills on the other hand...................:)

I live in a complex world :laughing

From Sea level to Colorado Continental divide, and the Sierra, and short sight lines in the twisties found there, and ... the strings of cars that build up behind the gasping for breath big rigs and motor homes....

Track riding would have different conditions. :thumbup

Don't confuse calling out latent sexism with throwing boulders on an internet forum. If that went over your head, I understand.

thanks for the tip but i wouldnt just go out and get a new bike without test riding it. even if my mind is made up right now to go for the 1100/796, only riding it will tell.

i mean.. maybe i should just get a husky 610 or something..

I find those Huskies extremely lacking. Having ridden a KTM 690 and Husky 610 back to back, I wouldn't want to invest my own money into the latter.

Also, I don't know about any of you guys but test riding supermotards is only half the story pre-purchase. It is only about a month after purchase that the real demo happens for me, when I'm comfortable pushing the bike and doing the silly illegal supermoto things.

Everybody's e-penis is the same size here on BARF, so nobody's "full of shit" and there is no "lady's version" unless it belongs to a lady. We're talking bikes here--it's supposed to be fun.

thats good to know. it still saddens me to know the fate of your ktm :(
theyre so expensive though.

but i also agree with your second statement. theyre fun at first while just testing it, but once you get to know it and really start to get comfortable with them, it makes it even more fun.

Another hint:

If someone pushes your unique personal buttons and you report them, step away after that. It may - or may not - be against the TOS.
Do NOT reply to their baiting with language that will get YOU suspended. :facepalm Happens all too often! :laughing

What most don't really understand is a Ducati 2v 1000cc or 1100cc bike is not the same as a 1000cc superbike. The 1100 hyper makes power of a 600cc sportbike. So when one speaks of 1100 2v motor. It's a great motor if you can afford to run it. But it's no gsxr1000 hell not even a newer gsxr600 for that matter. The hyperstrada... well that is a whole other beast. 4v motor!

Learn to work on it. Or put money aside to do service on it.

As for singles.. anyone care to run their single with me on Monday non stop at 85mph down the coast then hit the 10 east. Feel free. Let's see how far you make it. Comparing a V - twin to a single is pretty funny at best.

Anyways.. OP hit me up on a pm. I'll swing by.

Agreed. The 1100's have a lot less power that 600 I4. Stock HP is ~90. For me, its where the power 'is' that's important. Lots of torque down low is preferable vs. ringing it out (for me). The 2V may be old school for some, but they are not hard to wrench on.

Maybe someone with white skinny jeans wearing a gangsta' style wigger sideways hat may object.

Where are the, "My e penis is bigger than yours" T-shirts? Pure Gold!:laughing

Your signature clearly says 'Ride without Ego', what on earth are you doing on BARF?

Maybe someone with white skinny jeans wearing a gangsta' style wigger sideways hat may object.
Can't wait to meet you Scott, you seem like such a red fella.

I think the company that prints them is waiting for the No Fair done in the No fear font to sell out, so they aren't over stocked in taxable inventory.

:rofl

I did 1500 miles in 2 days on a DRZ400SM. By the end, i was doing 85mph, and it burned a little oil, no big deal just top it off when you need to.

I did 1600 miles in 3 days on a KTM 690 SMC. No problems.

If you're having issues getting your singles to last, I'd say the problem is probably with the maintenance or the rider.

I'm planning on doing an ironbutt this summer on the 690, 1000 miles in a day with at least 50 miles of offroad in there...I don't anticipate any problems.

Modern singles will do the job just fine, if they're not cutting it you either got a lemon or are doing something seriously wrong with your maintenance.

Oh and :laughing at the idea that the hypermotard makes the same power as a 600 supersport:

At least choose facts that are hard to fact check. :laughing

The hypermotard is a fatty if you're comparing to a supermoto, just learn to live with the reality that it's a tarted up monster.

not a fan of the powerband either. feels like a pushrod v8 truck engine

Hypergirl had the DRZ SM , fun for a while. Sold!
Next, KTM 690 SM more fun , more miles, but just not fun on the long mile days so, sold!
Next, Ducati 1100 Hyper, 35,000 miles later, finally sold :(. The bike took her every where including the track for Cal. Super Bike school (twice!).
Next, Triumph 675 Daytona, the adventure continues....:)
