Favorite cheeseburger in SF?

My go-to burger in SF is the Burger Joint on Valencia at 19th.

Great burgers, great fries.

Barney's on 24th St. is often bandied about, but frankly, I am not a fan.

I work in walking distance of the Ferry Building and I go to Prather for their dry aged burger from time to time. I ask for it blue and the typical add-ons are mushrooms, onions and avocado/runny eggs.

Anybody remember Hamburger Mary's?

Used to be at Folsom and 12th (somewhere around there).... I think it closed in the late 90's or 2000.

This thread made me think of that place, really good burgers.

The Willows operates there now, and makes some claims to continuing the spirit of the old place. They do a 'drunk and happy meal' with a damn good burger, fries, shot, beer and a toy. It's a good time. :laughing

I'll check it out next time I'm up there... the last time I was in that area and thought about it there was Thai place in that spot.

ABV has a dope burger and great cocktails to boot

For the purposes of this thread, SF spots only.

For the purposes of another potential thread, why the hell aren't there any Chick Fil A's closer to SF?

Because of the Christian thing. If they tried to build one in the City it would be burned to the ground.

In SF, I think Burgermeister is pretty good, but my favorite has been Bill's Place on Clement for a long time.

I don't remember ever getting what I'd consider a great burger from a bar. Although it may be possible and I don't think I've ever eaten at Benders.

When Hail Seitan was there, the food was fucking off the chain, but I think it is someone else now.

California needs Steak n Shake.
