I'm so glad the thread survives. I haven't found any goodies lately but BARF provides. "Why Me Y" is awesome!!

Here in Verde Valley, THE long time, been here forever tribes that out lasted,, and still friendly,
Yavapi-Apache, and a state plate.

^^^ I'm sure they are sad they didn't center the letters on the plate.
It was probably the only version that was available. Others probably already have the more common versions, and the properly spaced version.
Sometime you have to get creative.
 
Spacing and centering are not considered part of the plate configuration in the DMV system (too much opportunity for confusing one plate for another), so you can't differentiate plates by whether they are centered or not. If "FASTSUV_" is taken, they won't give someone else "_FASTSUV". You also can't order custom plate configurations with the number 0 so as not to get confused with the letter O (sequential plates can still have zeroes I believe). This is for CA I don't know about other states.

Last I checked, there is a checkbox to mark if you want the plate config centered when ordering. I think many people overlook it. Imo they should be centered by default and you should check the box to not center instead. Maybe DMV has changed this since I last looked.
