Firing squads are back

Electric chair I see, but how is it better then drug cocktail? :laughing

Hmm, botched drug cocktail where states are injecting you with crap off the shelf from Lowe's, and it maybe takes you 45 minutes to die, or being shot through the heart a bunch with unconsciousness expected in 10-15s.

Im conflicted on the death penalty nowadays it seems... but I would venture to say that I think if we are to do it, the quickest less painful way would be the best way to go.

If it were me Id prefer to go out fast and not suffer through 45 minutes of pain/suffering

That's not generally what a firing squad shoots at.

they put the bullseye on the heart.

I didn't know that. Thanks for the info. I imagine that is also very quick, and if you feel any pain it lasts only a second or two.

I've never understood this either.
Are they specifically formulated to deny them a painless death? :dunno

I think an O.D. On morphine or sleeping pills, or any other number of drugs would also be painless without the elaborate concoction. :dunno

Sorry I just do not trust my government enough to kill someone for me.:x

Never understood the people who say they do not trust the government are the one in favor of the death penalty.

I'd support this if I had even a hint of faith in the USA justice system

It's simply to final of a solution for how flawed our system is

Not a challenge, simply asking a few questions... Can you refrence another judicial system that is less flawed? What would you do to improve the one we have?

Many people have been found innocent after spending years in prison and on death row. It is is evident that the system is flawed and can't be certain they are killing the correct person.
It would suck to shoot and kill a restrained person and then find out later that they were innocent.

I am 100% with you on this. I do not support governments having the power to kill their own citizens.

The Nazis stopped shooting people in firing squads because it was causing the soldiers serious mental health issues. Lots of useless drunks and suicides.

Thanks to Bayer they developed Zyclon-B and everyone was fine!

No way in hell I'd want to be part of a firing squad.

Opens the door to 'Cruel and unusual punishment' lawsuits, leading to delays and costs.

Punishment should fit the crime. I don't mean in the was that one is executed the same way crime was committed, but in the way that I font care if criminal experience some discomfort.

GTFO with that logic bro. You will anger the bloodthirsty.

Release people serving time for harmless drug possession?

What nation imprisons more of their population than any other?

Hanging is still a method of execution in my home state. The gallows is in Walla Walla of all places. :laughing

Yeah, I think Washington state and Virginia if I remember right. I still want an option where you could launch somebody over the bay with a catapult and detonate them in mid-air playing the Star Spangled Banner.

It's so like you to want to half ass it.

So you're saying we should go for a full drawn and quartered at the moment of, "the bombs bursting in air?" Hmmm. I like it, but not quite appropriate to the idiom. What if we did the 1812 Overture instead? It would require very precision movements to quarter at just the right time. I wold have to design a machine I think.

Oh CRAP, we could get BUDWEISER AS THE SPONSOR! Then we could use the Budweiser Clydesdales!

How many people have been executed and then found to be innocent?
How much money has been spent incarcertating people on death row, paying for their lawyers are appeals?

How many of the victims actually want them executed? Does it really provide comfort, or is it just revenge?

Most rationale behind the "good reasons" for capital punishment have been effectively debunked. People obsessed with killing them are bloodthirsty.
