Fix-it ticket

Now you know why I never got a fender eliminator kit for the ZX12R. I really like the look of these, especially as I had a hugger too. But to have to go thru the hassle of returning it to stock, & giving a reason to get pulled, talked myself into not getting one.

Shame, I like they way they look....

Fender eliminator kits aren't necessary illegal, you just have to make sure your rear turn signals are compliant to CVC, the plate is visible, and you're displaying a rear reflector. AFAIK, as long as you meet those requirements, you should be fine.

Was this a serious question?

i meant while they are verifying that your bike is back up to spec. for instance, if they check out my rear fender and say it is fine now but want me to start up the bike to verify that my exhaust isn't too loud.

Yes, we can ticket you for every violation we see on the bike. Most of the time we don't do that, we'll give you a warning, however, some violations like bald tires will get your another ticket.

If you want to stand out in the crowd and configure your bike in an illegal configuration, than man up and take the ticket. The bikes I ride on the street have fenders. They come in handy when it rains.

Edit: Have you seen all that mong under your fender? I don't want that on my back!

cops can't ticket you for more things wrong on your bike after you fix and bring it in, can they?

Apparently you're young enough that you haven't hit that milestone in life whereby you stop trying to get away with sh*t. Just make your bike compliant and you won't have these hassles.

damnit, this means i'm old doesn't it!

Post up some pics of your bike, a list of the modifications and then we can begin to guess how many lumps you should request when asking the LEO to sign off on your fixit ticket.

thanks for an actual non-flame answer. what i was concerned about is using a ticket for one thing as a pretext to do a full inspection to write several more tickets. but it seems like that is a possibility, so i'll bring my bike up to spec.

Apparently, you haven't been on this planet very long. 'Must be a young whippersnapper.

hmmmmmmm can federal LEO sign off on fix it tickets,

and how the hell do they even really check the signature, 1/2 the time its just scribble scribble badge # that is still not legible

i mean if any agency, (federal or state or both) can sign off - do they have some super master database that says this signature is valid to this badge id ####.

1/2 the time i hear my buddies with fixit tickets, get it signed off by a leo they know personally either friend or family and dont have to really "fix" their rides.

also how did your fixit only cost you $20, but took you a entire day @ court????? my fine was in the hundreds for no license plate light and no rear reflector and something else like tinted turn signals, i did not have to go to court, just signoff mail the check and stub in and that was it

^ damn Ernie, they really raked you over the hot coals on that one.
