Fun, beater car for under $5k

I can relate. When I bought my CBR, I was eating lunch at a Hooter's near the dealership. I stopped by on a whim on the way home to look at some of the year's new bikes and ended up coming home with a brand new bike.

I'm glad that impulse buy turned out alright with no buyer's remorse.

..... I put $8k cash and $2k credit card.
That was money towards a house or investment...as a young guy, you took a big hit on depreciation for an impulse buy.....
take it back for the 3 day buyers remorse law....you need some adult counseling kiddo.
Sometimes, just sitting back, enjoying the little things is what matters. YMMV.
The little things are going to be your son & daughter coming soon....

You didn't read my second edit on that reply did you? If I wanted to buy a house, I would have already. I'm active duty military and if I buy a house, I would have to buy in Elk Grove/Sac area (which I don't really want), but even if I did, I wouldn't be able to live in it very long before getting stationed elsewhere.

But thank you for your concern. :thumbup

I didn't say to buy a house now...but now you got yourself locked into a money losing finance deal as a young guy.
Bring the bike back to the dealer & keep saving your money for when you do want a house for your family....
I don't care what you decide, I'm trying to help you with elder advice...

Honestly, I'm not rich, I don't have six-pack abs or a college degree (working on it). But you know what I do have? Happiness. I have a stable career of 11 years, I'm healthy, I have a beautiful wife, healthy/handsome son, two good working cars and now a nice bike. Is my life perfect? No. Could I save up and buy a house? Sure, and in time I will. But I'd like to enjoy my life a little in the process.

I know what you're all thinking. ":afm199 Save up money, invest in the future, etc" and I respect that. By no means am I blatantly throwing my life away. But for once in my life, things are going pretty good, so you know what I'm gonna do? I'm gonna live a little. :party :teeth :ride

This narrative is missing a dog..a killer diller black lab...kids should have a dog.
