Plz tell me more about how realistic reality shows are

Seriously who the fuck cares if these people are nice or not. Someone is a dick means everyone gangs up of them, from all over the country, and is dicks for fun? The whole thing is pathetic on all sides.

I'm not defending those who are part of the gang up, rather that it's hard to feel bad for people who put themselves in the position of exposure by both being assholes AND pandering to reality TV. :teeth

I don't agree with the mob behavior against ABC, but they did ask for it. They asked for it back in 2010 when the lady went crazy on one bad yelp review.

Stealing work from others too :thumbdown

It's weird how the Internet feels its their duty to destroy a business based on its portrayal on a fake reality show

It's even weirder these people think they can take on reddit

Yo, Kevin. I respect your opinion 99% of the time but I gotta tell you... reality TV is not all "fake" in a sort of universal way. There are varying degrees of fakery. Basically the producer of the show is tasked with finding an optimal cost/drama arrangement. Are the people on Kitchen Nightmares actors? No, they're real people. Are they following a script? No, they're not. I can say that with 100% certainty because it costs a fuckload of money to hire actors and writers. Reality TV exists because it's cheap and a show that takes no money to produce yet pulls in the fucking ratings like Honey Boo Boo is what studios want.

So here's the breakdown of what is fake in this show:

It's edited in a way that can re-contextualize what people say
It's chopped together so people sound much more spastic when they're arguing
Gordon Ramsay (who is actually a pretty nice guy) is encouraged to yell and throw fits to antagonize restaurant owners
The "customers" are there at the discretion of the production team

Going over the top to like... pay these people to act crazy is just defying the rules of reality TV. Total nutcases are out there and they don't need to be paid to do what comes naturally :)

Oh and I know all of this because my sister-in-law used to work as a reality TV producer. :p

Wonder what this would look like if 4Chan starter after her.
LOL

how to properly chew out your customers

She has some serious mental health issues, and he has his quirks, but the root of the problem is simply that a customer facing restaurant is probably the absolute worst business that they could probably have chosen to open. Makes good television though.

This is also a classic case of an old dude getting blinded by some young poon and winding up with a whole lot of his money gone when it's all over.

whoa, I guess I'm a little jealous of all you folks who've never spent much time around someone with a narcissisic personality disorder who's gone past the point of no-return into the world of cognitive dissonance.

Amy would fit in just fine with much of my family.
