Genesis. Cars not the band.

Comfort isn’t much of a consideration with Scotty. If it starts he’s happy.
A Highlander is a lot nicer than the plain A-B sedans Toyota makes.

Often times American cars make for nice rentals. Maybe you don’t want to own one but I can’t recall a road trip in a low mileage one having any issues other than being comfortable.

I would guess a Camry would ride similarly to the Highlander as they are on the same chassis :)

Cars are tools that get from A to B. I want to get from A to B reliably, comfortably, and for the least amount of money possible. I don't care how fast I get there and I don't care how I look.

To each his own and I don't judge people for their choices. That doesn't mean I understand why people spend money on depreciating assets :dunno

We have a very different mindset about cars for sure. Even during my commute, which is very much an A to B then B to A situation, I sometimes take a detour off the freeway and take a slightly longer way home because it’s more fun. But sometimes it’s an A right back to A drive, and it was strictly to take an nice drive in a fast car that looks great.

That said, with cars being simply depreciating assets to you, what are motorcycles?

If you spend a lot of time driving it's worth spending a few bucks to be comfortable.

Yeah I want to be comfortable but comfort isn't expensive :)

My Aunt has pretty bad sciatica. Last year her Fusion lease was ending and she asked me if there was any kind of aftermarket thing or modification that could be done to a seat to extend the thigh support. I see add on lumber cushions and the beaded covers all the time in my customer’s cars, but I’ve never heard of anything that can extend the thigh cushion out. The car just has to made that way. So she asked what kind of cars have those kind of seats. And typically luxury cars do. My wife’s Audi has three position manually set thigh extensions, which is a standard thing for many mid grade luxury vehicles. My Acura has a power thigh extension, so it’s infinitely adjustable. And power adjustment is something that’s typically found on the really high end stuff like a S-class and so on. Turns out my Acura is the cheapest car you can buy with that particular feature. Had her come drive one, and she said it’s the most comfortable seat she’s ever felt in a car. Still though, the $40k Acura is far from being a cheap car. She would have been totally fine with a Civic or whatever for half as much, but she was willing to pay for comfort, or more specifically not to be in pain.

trans grenaded in my dodge 6 weeks after I bought it.

it only had 80K miles on it.

Fuck that piece of shit car.

I love mine. I will probably just put another one in. :laughing

They trannys are made by Mercedes, so of course they crunch, LOL. Maybe if the tranny fell out I might dump my R/T for an SRT8, but the R/T seems fine for my track free lifestyle.

:) Motorcycles are to me what nice cars are to you :thumbup

They are both depreciating assets :laughing :ride

I just can’t do used. I know people love to laugh at fools like me who take a bath on depreciation while they swoop in and buy it on the cheap after I trade it in or whatever. But I’ve said this before. I gotta be the first one. I gotta know the vehicle was cared for the right way right off the rip. I gotta know that some slob hasn’t been farting in the seat for thousands of miles before me. Quite honestly, my neurosis goes so deep, that if it were possible, I’d go to the assembly plant and build the thing myself all the way down the line so I know for sure it got built right.

It’ll be the daily driver/grocery getter. 12-14000 miles a year. So I could go lease. Though there doesn’t seem to be a lot of incentive from Hyundai on that front and their residuals are shit. The 2.9% over 60months for purchase they’re offering isn’t half bad.

This may be all spinning my wheels for nothing. Things may unfold in the next couple weeks that may have me toeing a different company line (which includes a company car), so we’ll just see what we’ll see.

does this mean you don't fart in your own cars, or you're just averse to others residual malodorous emanations and farting away in your own cocoon?

Would you buy someone else’s used underwear? Even if they washed it?

How often do people shit their pants while driving?

Do you use toilet seat covers?

Only stand for public transportation?

Part of society is sharing butt spaces with other butts. Is your butt better than others??

:laughing just being as ass, don’t mind me :p :thumbup

Who doesn’t use toilet seat covers? You mean to tell me that if you have to make a stop at the Chez Chevrõn bathroom along an interstate somewhere, you’re not laying down a few layers of ass gaskets? If you’re going raw on that seat, or an airport bathroom, or quite frankly any public bathroom seat...then you sir are a gambler at a level I can not even imagine.

:rofl I'll wipe down the seat with some tp if it looks questionable but the biggest gamble from sitting on the seat is tip-dip :laughing :thumbup

Hell no. Those things are annoying to use and probably don't do much of anything anyway. It's not like you're going to catch chlamydia or something :laughing

I dunno' . . . . plenty of army chaplains catch all sorts of STDs from toilet seats. Or so the chaplains claim.

Now that's funny.

So my thoughts. I've owned only Japanese vehicles. Some Honda's, an Acura, a Toyota Tacoma. SOs have had Toyotas mostly. To me the equivalent Honda to the Toyota has always been the better more exciting vehicle to drive. So I like Honda. But I had a Hyundai Sonata hybrid as a work car for about 2 years. It was a 2016 I believe. My only complaint was it felt heavy. Wallowed a bit on really bumpy stuff. It was very reliable. My wife's Accord gets better mpg easily even though it isn't a hybrid but that sonata was decent. Never any issue with the sonata. I turned it in with about 60K miles on it. Now I am in a Chevy Malibu with the tiny turbo motor. Decent off the line but pretty weak at highway speeds.. No issues with it either. It is newer than the sonata but lower spec so the interior is a bit simpler. It's the first American vehicle I have ever put any large amount of miles on.

My personal vehicle is a 2007 Civic which I put about 4K miles a year on since mostly getting my wife the Accord. It has been ok mechanically. Never left me stranded. Only Toyota has ever accomplished that. Had a few AC problems, worn out motor mounts, and at least one oil leak. Replaced suspension and brakes once each. A little over 140K on it now.

When buying my wife's Accord in 2014 I looked at all the players in that class. I was actually somewhat interested in the Sonata at the time but didn't like the dealer experience at the Hyundai dealer. Same with Nissan. I've been paying attention to the Kia/Hyundai offerings since around 2002. They do seem to get exponentially better each iteration. I would have no problem with buying one if it's what I really wanted. I wouldn't have said that until about 2011 or 2012 though.

i wouldnt buy one new. you can get one half the price a year or 2 old with super low miles. currently looking at a G90 which is over 60k new
