Golf

I played once upon a time. But I told myself if I ever tossed a club I'd quit. U can guess what happened. 3 clubs into the pond on one hole! I gave it up & gave away my clubs. Was more into riding anyway...:rofl

Now, please, you lousy swinging bastids, keep your opening drive on the 9th hole of SkyWest straight & no hooks ok? All my back windows are Kevlar, & I can't tell you how many times I had a ball woossh by me & the babies in the backyard. I've found about ~300 balls in the yard in my 30 years here....:afm199

Cant tell if serious, but if so:

Uh, you bought a house on a golf course. What did you think would happen? Better ban golf.

Like the folks in Monterey do with racing and sound at Laguna...

Ok. Ill ask him.

Do blades go farther when you make proper contact though?

Not for me....not when compared to the newer irons that really launch the ball, partly assisted by strong lofts. A blade is a 'touch' club, focused on control not distance. Usually by the time you are playing blades your swing speed is fast enough that distance is not a concern...then again, distance is always a concern..haha. Blades are great for shot shaping and distance control for the lower handicap golfer. They reward pure strikes with incredible feel and consistency....a mis hit goes nowhere. Some golfers that are learning like the penalty that a mis-hit blade will punish you with, kinda pavlovian. If you are about scoring, a game improvemnt iron is much more consistent for most

From 150 yards i'll hit a 7 or 8 with my blades depending on conditions, with my new Nike covert's its a 9...tops.

I'll still say a sweet strike my 690mb's feels better than anything, but I do like my new clubs.....

I used to golf fairly regularly but had to give it up for awhile for a few reasons but I'm looking to pick it up again very soon now.

Interesting. Good to know!

BTW - No update from my buddy. Don't think he really cares enough.

Anyone free to play Friday or Saturday? I'm free Friday after 12 and most of the day Saturday I think, pending on whether or not I have to hit Santa Cruz to pick up my bike on Friday or not.

I'm pretty sure I'll be playing tomorrow afternoon at Willow Park in CAstro Valley. Around 2-3 pm

Ugh. I want to be good at golf so bad! Shot a 95 today. Need to reel in the "duff's" or mis-shots. When I do make contact, its generally playable. My irons could be a little more accurate, but making better contact with them. My short game has greatly improved, fortunately; ie, chipping within 75 and putting from anywhere.

Guess I need to practice more. Just feel like a big net and a mat will be misleading...?

I'm just starting to play after a 20+ year lay off. Went out cold turkey on Friday in a best ball tourney. I'm focusing the memories on the good shots.
The clubs I have are a bag full someone gave me to use. Just ordered irons from Golf Mart/Dublin. Great experience. I'm 6'2" so they added length, bigger grips, etc. I hit 6 sets before we came back to the ones I hit the best and felt best, Cleveland 588MT's.
O'yeah - I suck at golf! Inside 100 yards I'm OK, Chip's are solid, putting is OK, drives are inconsistent as hell.

Me too, and I play like once a week! :laughing

Putting and chipping keeps getting better. Irons and drives still aren't great.

I average like 85 these days...when I actually get around to finishing 18. Lots of the time I end up playing 9-12 and get tired of being stuck behind slow people and quit. When you can finish 18 in 4-4.5 hours and you're only on 9 after 3, and people aren't letting you play through...
