Hi guys, just curious to see where everybody's riding down here. Figured it would be kinda nice to get a thread going with some good google maps/routes to take. I'll try to fish through my maps to dig up a couple, any others are appreciated! :thumbup

Edit> Here is a map trail section from pashnit.com which could be of some use.

bout 150miles for 3-4hrs. ive only done the whole loop once, but even doing just the top portion.. ie 'start' to 'intersection of 78 & 79' and then back is still great. the last lil bit in the north-east corner is amazing:

Here is a map of the route I used to take. Ortega Hwy is the closest good road to Irvine that I know of, but it is full of squids ( I used to be one of them) on the weekends. Then head to Palomar, which is full of all the squids out of San Diego. Both will often have cops if not helicopters/airplanes watching for speeders. Then continue on to Borrego Springs. It's a nice secret road with no traffic and good surface, since it's in the middle of nowhere. Keep an eye on gas between the 15 and Borrego Springs because there is no fill up. You're fine unless doing multiple runs up/down Palomar.

Other than that, you're riding north to the roads in the San Bernadino forest.

Thanks a lot! I'll take a look into these roads. It seems I have to travel to hit the fun stuff, I know f'sure I'm going to miss the bay. :cry

If you move to OC & want to go out on a ride PM me. I work in SJC Monday-Thursday and live in Newport Beach. The weather is nice right now in both!

Thanks for the maps, guys. I too have been missing the Bay Area riding for a few years now. Ortega is quite far from Orange County, and it takes 30 minutes to finish it. Still haven't been to Palomar, so maybe that's next on my list.
