Gun Owners who Wear their Guns at Home?

Hell for some people maybe it's just fun. No fear of anything, just want to play soldier/cop and see what it feels like to carry that weight around all day.

Scenarios can be concocted in which any safety measure can be rendered moot.

Should we give up gear because an errant skipping rock can crush the trachea? Should firemen give up their helmets because a two-ton edifice may fall upon them? Most cautious/prepared folks look to the likely, not to the bizarre.

Most home invaders are not ninjas or assassins; they are opportunists. The likelihood of them figuring out when the resident is actually in the shower as part of their invasion plan is most likely pretty low.

Thank goodness they're dumb as rocks then because it would be easy to roll someone while they're in the shower w/ ivory soap between their butt cheeks :rofl ... Carry-in-home isn't going to do shit for you then

I'm just trying to point out that you can get caught slippin even if you carry in your home ....

Taking the edge off the mentality that you can protect yourself at all times :nchantr ... I really couldn't imagine what my mindset would be carrying in my home... Do you carry while you fap too? :|

I guess it depends upon one's experiences.

I've had my front door burst in once (in a "safe" and bucolic suburb of Chicago), and have sat there, on the line for 20+ minutes with SFPD in the Inner Richmond, in the company of four frightened women, while gang members were attempting to break down the door in order to "reclaim" their runaway illegal resident.

On top of that I now dwell in Salinas (and not the East Side), yet we've had two murders, one wounding, and divers other shooting incidents in the past year alone.

My family and I believe that having options is warranted, just as wearing good gear when riding is warranted. Better to have it and not need it...

I'm sorry but I don't consider anything w/ Chicago in it safe :nchantr...

On illegals, maybe Californians should stop being so liberal about the kind of crap they let flow across their borders unchecked.. The crime/theft rate would fall significantly .. O'well, it would seem the most educated/monied people in the world still want some 'hood' around them to remind them of what 'the struggle' is like :x ...

*Lock the Doors and put on your weapon Tom, I just read a new batch of spicy illegals came across the border ... Dam this feels good living in fear

You're really stuck on these mythical home invaders who are going to wait until a home owner is in the shower to pounce. :rofl

If you're doing home invasions you most likely were not top of your class, which is why you're doing a crime like home invasions in the first place. The risk vs reward just isn't there for that and they aren't smart enough to figure that out.

Is there exceptions to every rule? Sure.
Are there some smart criminals in the world? No doubt. Are most of them smart? Not at all.
Is it going to be easier to obtain and use your pistol if it's being worn on your hip vs locked in a safe? Of course. Will it save you from every scenario some dude on the internet can think up? Probably not.

Mostly the criminal element is going to be dumb as dirt. This isn't to say they aren't dangerous, not at all, dumb people are probably some of the MOST dangerous because again, they don't understand risk vs reward. Still, lets be real here, for the most part we aren't talking about master planners here, this is real life, not Oceans 11 :laughing

So, what you're saying is there is a business opportunity for educating criminals? :party

But on a serious note, if you're packing in the house... shouldn't you be preparing for worst case and not best case scenarios?

Your gun, your house. No one should even be giving half a turd if someone wants to carry in thier own home.

Given what plenty of BARFer's probably do in the privacy of their own homes, wearing a gun around the house should be way down on the list of things to find fault with... :laughing

I hear they're real cheap at Home Depot :rofl

Or Castro (or so I have heard) :p

P.S. Why should we care what people are doing inside their houses? It is a slippery slope if what people wear, do or think has to pass muster with others.

Since when does providing an opinion mean that we "give a shit" what someone does?

Plenty of you provide opinions about pro athletes, MotoGP racers, and riders who don't wear AGATT, even though they have absolutely no affect on your life.
