The fast MotoGP boys (sorry, no girls) are using or experimenting with thumb and finger rear brakes. I definitely can see the advantage on track for this set-up. In fact, I would really like it on any bike. However, like other issues, I may be out of the norm. Thus, this poll. What do ya' all think of a hand controlled rear brake?

Well they've been using them since last century. I guess they work fine, but I have no motivation to change what I have grown used to in the last 30+ years.

Is this on the throttle/right hand? For riders that blip, the extra hand lever may make things more difficult. You know, pulling on the front brakes with two fingers, blipping the throttle, and either pushing with the thumb or pulling another lever with either the ring finger or the pinky. How does it all work?

Or this is a brown folk thing? :twofinger

Hit up stuntlyfe forum those guys will answer your questions

i suck at using the foot brake at lean. i kinda wanna try a thumb brake (left hand) to see how much it helps with corner entry.

Foot brake is ridiculous and makes flat tracking pretty much stupid.

When electric bikes are ubiquitous, they will all have hand operated rear.

I don't even remember the last bike I had with a connected/functioning rear brake.

I'll make you a sweet deal on a Brembo that I'm not using, Robert. :teeth

That's how i operate clutch/brake concurrently. Dual brakes wouldn't be much different.

Oh, no doubt it's doable. On your video, it wasn't super clear you were blipping/rev-matching. And I think MotoGP motorbikes don't have to manually blip because they all have slipper clutches and perhaps blip assist too, and I'm really, really not sure about this last one. And you know, in time, all motorbikes will eventually get there, or heck, they'll all be electric and blipping will be a moot point. In the meantime, how would it work with more modest motorbikes? I don't expect a good answer, tho. Sometimes I just ask for personal edification.

I would love a thumb operated rear brake.

better wheelie control? (as if I knew how, ha ha)

I have a thumb brake right now (required due to not able to mount a traditional foot brake). I hate to admit it, but I haven't worked on the technique to use it yet.
