Help, I got a ticket for 110 mph, need advice.

Damm that dmv info does not look good, appreciate the heads up info, gonna give the Law offices of Scotty J. Storey a call to today see if there's any hope for me.

Well got a speeding ticket for +110 on the freeway, I had to speed up to get into position to take a freeway exit, wanted to get out of the merging cars blind spots, I did not argue with the police officer, got the ticket. Question is what kind of fine and how many points may I be issued ? can it help if I get an attornery to rep me in court to get the fine somone reduced on the speed I got cited for ? major question is if i get my license suspended, will it be my m1 only or my license, my commercial license and M1 ? any response will be much appreciated, Thank you

You could have used the brakes to slow down instead, waited for an opening and moved over. It's taken me awhile but I've learned that theres very very few legitimate reasons to be going 45mph+ over the speed limit. As the others have suggested get a lawyer and let him get the ticket reduced to something else.

Yea it's really easy to get carried away with the throttle on my bike, but i'am trying to look at the situation in a positive way, at least I did not get arrested, or my bike towed.I will see how my luck holds up on this one, I just hope with lawyer representation it will get reduced to something less, and that I wont loose my job for having a suspended license.

22349 (A) VC - exceeding the max speed limit. 1 pt.

We're not cited for going over 100, you were given a major break.

Suck it up, deal with it.

Because of my commercial license, my plan has always been to fight every ticket. But in this case, I think Rel's advice is sound. If suspension of your license isn't an option with 22349(a), I don't even see how a lawyer could help you.

Yep, its easy to do...

However, the rider has to be smarter then the bike.

If you can't control your speed, you're a threat to every other person on the roadways.

That depends. Here is a circumstance that hppened to me just a few weeks ago.

I'm on the on-ramp behind this giant 4X4 diesel rig going about 45mph merging onto the freeway. I check back to see if it is clear (totally clear, no vehicles), light the afterburners and hammer it around him moving out into the fast lane (two lanes in each direction). No vehicles in front of us either.

I overcook it and in two seconds I'm way over 100, look up and see CHP passing in the opposite direction. I am certain he sees me so I cool it, slow down to 65 and move over to slow lane. Sure enough, he spins a yu-ee and finally comes up behind me. I signal and pull over before he hits the lights.

He asked me how fast I thought I was going, I told him over 80, he agreed but didn't have his radar on and I got off with a warning.

If it wasn't for the CHP I could have cruised at 130 to my off-ramp two miles down the road without jeopardizing anyone.

JMHO

Over 100mph is 2 points and since you have commercial that means no traffic school plus it wont clear for about 5-7 years.

Dont ask me how i know......:rolleyes

plus about $1800 in fines and court fees

Again, he wasnt cited for over 100. Don't waste Scotty's time, IMO.

Going fast without knowing it IS easy.... I found myself going a little over 100when I realized a truck that I was passing was going to pull into my lane. Just a small twist of the wrist and_ZOOM_. And then I have to realize I need to slow back down. Sometimes that high speed is....comfortable. 'whaa ? I was going THAT fast ???'. now if I see a truck ahead, I just automatically pick up the pace to pass.

I found myself at 130 one weekday night on a straight stretch of hwy 80 heading south. I had full gear on and there was little traffic...and there was this Dodge Charger......

Absolutely get an atty.
Is the ticket considered a misdemeanor or traffic infraction?
If it's a misdemeanor, bring a lawyer and a sad face dress conservatively the DA may reduce/drop charge.

He doesn't need one! It's a simple speeding ticket, despite the speed. He was given a huge break. Pay it and move on...it'll be just like any other speeding ticket. One point on the record, large fine (due to the speed), but nothing more serious than that. It's just a speeding ticket the way it was written. Infraction...not misdemeanor.

I was sited for 110 + was written on the ticket, I did a little research and the vc code he issued me 22349 (b) was exceeding the speed limit on a two lane undivide highway, I was on a 5 lane in both direction highway, and on top of that the ticket indicates he had me on radar, but how can he gun me when he was behind me about 20 yards after I accelerated and shut it down no more than a couple of seconds after i shut it down ? It doesnt make sense you cannot use a radar gun while in pursuit. If he was stationed and gunned me, it's kind of hard to belive he was on my tail that fast from a dead stop on the shoulder while as he stated I was doing a 110 + flyby. I accelerated no more than 80-100 yards looked in my mirror and he was right on me, doesn't add up. I think there's discrepencies in the ticket he issued : first falsefying the use of radar gun, and by issueing me the wrong vc code.

I know I was not going more than 95 plus, This one is going to trial. big differnce in outcome of under 100 mph vs. over 100 mph.

over 100 mph-2points, and reckless driving on record for 3-5 years, and suspension of license, vs. under 100mph- 1 point.
