Help picking a new Ducati

BUy a used 1098. They are cheap because all the poser trendy early adopters thought they looked good on one but couldn't ride em for shite around town. THe 848 is like the 1098 with training wheels...plus it has the wet clutch to soothe the irritated ears of those who don't know what a real Ducati sounds like.

For me, it's a no brainer.

Dry clutch. 1098. FTW.

I also don't care about extra power. But if you're going to spend that much $ on something as irrational as a Ducati, get the whole Duc experience. You *need* a dry clutch.

so...just curious. what exactly is your criteria for making a decision? not sure it's possible to tell (from what you've said) what you intend to do with the bike - i mean - riding-wise. so not sure how anyone can make a useful recommendation.

am i missing something? :dunno

i wanted and 848 but got a 1098....soo happy...better suspension, brakes, motor and sound.

it goes through the tisties like a mad man, if you think it wont handle well youre insane.

it SUCKS as a street bike, I am so happy o hop eon the 1050 triple for street duty.

I really like my s2r 800 but if I had the loot I'd be looking at the sportclassic 1000 biposto and get some zards on that beyotch.

Street riding only. Commute to work from time to time and ride the twisties on the weekends. That's all. The 848 might have been an occasional track bike but the 1098 definitely won't be.

If the 848 is any easier to turn in I'd say go for it. I just got back from a San Luis Bike Night ride, the route was very tight and technical and I was working hard to throw the bike corner to corner. The Hyper that was also on the ride was having a blast though. I'm not saying I wasn't having fun but if you like tight twisties then the 1098 isn't for you. If you really like tight turns check out a Hypermotard. I test drove one while the dealer was reprogramming my 1098 and I've never had so much fun under 60mph.

Ive heard with some mods you can even get them up to 65mph :twofinger
