High End Kitchen Appliances

FWIW, if you're willing to do separate cooktop and oven(s) the choices and configurations expand a lot, and you get to dial-in. E.g. the Wolf ovens are tough to beat, but the gas tops may or may not work for you - not so much the question of durability, more about burner size, spacing, BTU, simmer ability, etc. E.g. something with large diameter burners will require a trivet to use small pans. Anyhoo, in the cooktop-only world if you have a good gas supply and appropriate ventilation planned, you can start looking at commercial gear (fwiw, I've had a jones for a Garland for a long time now).

This is what I have....separates. When the oven broke I replaced it with one from Craigslist and it's awesome. But I hate my cooktop.

I really want to go to 5 burner from 4 and also replace the integrated microwave/fan with a proper wall mounted hood. These fans are ass I set off my fire alarm a lot.

OMG! Is that you Lizard?!?!? Did you post in the OG BARFers thread?

He is still waiting for you to post up some pics in sandals to post in there :p

Based on recommendations in this thread, I am now looking at getting a Miele Dishwasher, because my Kenmore ain't been shit and is about over after 6 years, which seems like shit production to me, I don't even run it every day.

I hate when the little things break. Jesus was able to fix the freezer door handle but the microwave door handle rattles and is lose and might not be able to be fixed while the mirowave is fine. I hate how breakable everything is.

Yeah, I wish I could just refer to a really expensive over engineered brand for most things. It is sad that quality has fallen so far by the wayside with so many products.

Am getting ready to do a similar project and am gravitating toward the Monogram stuff. Why no love for Monogram just out of curiosity?

For me, it was reliability/repair history. I went with the top of the line Kitchenaid Oven/Microwave, dishwasher, counter depth fridge (hate the counter depth). Reliability ratings were well above average for Kitchenaid, plus Kitchenaid is Whirlpool, which generally means if it needs parts, you'll be able to still get them in the next couple decades.

Now I did go splurge on a Wolf 5 burner cooktop, and it's just awesome. Parts? Reliability? Meh. I wanted a Wolf cooktop.

This is the direction we are going. The only things that are not Wolf/Subzero are the undercounter wine and beverage fridges. Went Zephyr brand with those. Even the salesman did not see the value in going Subzero for those two items. Did not mind the extra cost to go Subzero, but I didn't want to throw money away if I'm not really getting anything in return for it (~$800 vs ~$3000 each).

We knew from the beginning that we we not going to get a full range so it's nice to be able to mix/match and have the 36" range top with a 30" oven. The extra space (knob location) of going with a range top instead of cooktop means that we could get the infrared charbroiler!

I'm excited about having the microwave/speedoven combo. Currently our most used appliance is easily our countertop toaster oven so this will be a space saver for sure.

I’ve been planning for a while to replace all my stuff but I ain’t looking for 30 year lifespan cause no way I’m want to still be living in this same place 30 years from now.

I really recommend rethinking the black knob option. The red knobs are the trademark.

Comes with both and they swap out in about 5 seconds.

I understand the trademark of it all, but I think it looks tacky. So I'll keep the red knobs in a bag somewhere.

Stainless knobs are available too but the complete lack of contrast looks strange.

Tentatively going with Wolf/Sub-zero. Deposit given.

It's a few bucks but has minimal fancy gimmick stuff. Has a classic look that hasn't changed in many years and should be reliable with minimal maintenance for at least 20 years.

36" Range top w/integrated grill
30" m series oven
30" microwave/speed oven
36"built in french door fridge
Dishwasher - panel ready
Hood
Wine fridge
Beverage fridge

Definitely made the sales guy's day. I'm sure he's getting a fat commission

We have Wolf stove and Sub Zero Refrigerator.

The refrigerator is the best refrigerator I have ever had. The stove is good, but just OK.

Both are 18yo however.

Does nobody have an opinion on the stuff that's 1/3rd the cost but a brand I've never heard it? Is it stupid to consider it?
