How long will a KTM 690 motor last?

I also use Motorex and do not have to top off between changes. Supposedly the blend is heavy on the zinc to keep the bearings happy. Other premium oils probably have enough zinc to keep the bearings happy as well, but for ~$20 extra every 3k miles, that is cheap insurance. Your bike, you make your own call.

Yamaha made a TTR600 but never sold it here.

There was good reason for this: the TTR600 was not an official Yamaha product. It was designed by the Italian importer (Belgarda), and manufactured by Yamaha to Belgarda's specifications. Belgarda also handled distribution and orders, but obviously they were not big enough to be able to expand their operations in the US.

Besides, at that time, Yamaha was working on the WR400, and the TTR looked like a dinosaur next to it.

Listen little man, time to grow up and put the big boy pants on. You may know about about taking fashion selfies and playing with your hair tinker bell, but you obviously know jack shit.
If not, go back to your fashion shots little one.

Ad hominem; undertones of latent homophobia. :thumbup

But I hear yeah on that tone comment.

I dont comment about anything I havent had experience with... or I'll keep my mouth shut.

Neither did I. Your anecdotal evidence against mine.

If you said that to me in person, you wouldnt be standing.
Seek professional help before you land a lawsuit. :laughing

Besides, there will be plenty of opportunities for us to cha in person.
Come say hi next time you see me, I will come out to a lot of rides this season just to give you the chance.

Self titled hardest rider anyone has ever known.
Words of people that know me and ride with me. Not a contest to me, I just like to have fun.

LOL. Man if you rode half as hard as you talk, you wouldn't be up in this thread pissing all over everything, because you'd be busy. Riding. Not talking. Talking does not equal riding. And the hard riders, are never talkers.

While we're at it let's go over a few more things. Backing it in, not hard riding. Wheelieing, not hard riding. Looks like you're out of talents bro.

You and your youtube homies have probably never even ridden with .001% of the people on here, so this is clearly your narcissist wings flapping in the wind. You're definitely not even close to A hard rider, let alone THE hardest rider any of us know. Don't get those big old lips caught in your chain on the next ride, I'd hate for you not to be able to do what you do best, talky McTalkerson.

Following this thread closely (except for the ubiquitous BARF dick wiggling).
My co-worker just bought a 2016 690 to commute from Vacaville to Napa.
It wouldn't have been my first choice as a freeway commuter. It's also his first street bike.
I'm curious to see how all of this shakes out.

Since it's a 2016 it can only be a Duke or an Enduro, I'm assuming a Duke since it's for commuter duty.

There's worse choices, but I agree, not my first choice either. But when I test rode a '15 Duke 690, it's geared higher than my SMC and the seat way more comfortable, so he should be happy slabbin' it. :ride

:rolleyes The kid bumps a thread for personal attention.... troll for sure. Its not his first time either. How he is still on Barf is beyond me. Adds nothing to the community other than attempting self promotion and attention with his videos in between the trolls. Hopefully he will eventually get banned for good.

Its like a cross between Frong, Chris Dove, and Boy George. I wonder if he knows he is guilty of cultural appropriation in addition to a troll, bad taste, and being an ignorant newb.

Did you check out his for sale thread? Frickin got "Hater" on his graphics. :rofl He's bad ASS. Who does that in reality? Wait... I couldnt.... nope... no way.... possibly..... know a rider harder than him. I should know better than to be a "Hater". Evidently he has to advertise it to others too. Clearly my bad. :wow

Maybe if we help his self esteem he will go away for good. Here is my first attempt

I see the barfs haven't changed much since I took a break...lol. on the other hand the brand new 690 Enduro R was calling to me down at the local shop today. Then I come home and find this thread. Could it be a sign?

Forrest, the 690 enduro is KILLER! I'd seriously have it in my shop if it werent for the $10k price tag. Have you ridden one yet? It makes the 650R feel... weak in stock form. They are that strong and impressive. Hope to have one down the road.

My 690SM has close to 9k mi. No idea how long it’ll last, but I certainly don’t expect 100k mi out of it. Its light weight and peppy engine make it one of the funniest bike I’ve had, specialized for quick 2-4 hr rides, up Mt Ham/SAV/Mines/Calaveras, or a goat road tour in the Santa Cruz Mountains. It wouldn’t be my long distance bike, and I wouldn’t waste it on mundane freeway commutes.

Denis one day your trolling is going to get you laid the fuck out.. You may know how to be a keyboard warrior but you don't know shit about the streets my dude lol. You have to be one of the biggest pussies I have ever met.

Uh oh, here we go...:laughing
How does one come to "know the streets"? Is there a class or patch one needs to get?

I earned my "Know the Streets" merit badge back in the day when I was a boy scout. I don't believe there's an expiry on those, so I'm good to go. :thumbup

I got a "Knowing is Half the Battle" patch, but that's a military thing..:laughing

Dominic, relax. Calling me a pussy doesn't bother me, you have to try harder.

You're getting a little carried away.

We were talking about the reliability of the LC4 690 motor and in that context hard riding is the engine load as a percentage of motor's overall service life.
