How will the research data be used? Where will they be published, if at all?

Aha. Well, I barely clipped one accidentally shortly after I started riding. Doubt there was any damage to the car's mirror, and anyway, it was just a beemer. :p

I never hit any accidentaly. but I have readjusted and removed more than a few over the years for drivers intentionally trying to knock me down or crowd me out.

you mean on purpose, or purely accidental?

on purpose= I plead the fifth

accidental= 1

:burnout

I hit a car w/ my mirror once, and punched one w/ an open palm another time. My pinkey went numb for a few minutes. Not recomended.

I've never hit a mirror, havent even come close to it on purpose or accidentally. If a cager looks like they are annoyed at the fact that I can breeze through traffic and they cant, I steer clear. I've talked to severl people who have told me about kicking people's cars and what-not. I don't know about anyone else, but when I'm driving my truck, I move over to give bikers more room.

none but close to hittin a few lol jus duck and dodge!

When I used to commute over the Bay Bridge I hit a few, usually trying to squeeze through a space that was too narrow. Once I distinctly remember the driver in an F-150 truck moved in toward me to prevent sharing the lane and passing. Banged his mirror and kept going.... very tense. These days I usually slow down or stop if it looks like there isn't enough room to get by. I try to avoid it.

for those who talk of kicking/punching mirrors off vehicles, how is that even possible without destabilizing your bike in the process? some assholes are asking for it, for sure, but i would never even consider it for fear that the abrupt motion would either hurt my hand or wobble the bike into another vehicle.

i've thought about adding some kind of metal edges to my boots, so if a cager tries to kill me (i don't mean annoys me or blocks me, i mean the fucker does something that actually threatens my life) i could hold my boot against the side of their vehicle and ride away. but i'd probably never do that either. i just like to think about it. :laughing one good scrape from tail to front would probably cost them a bit more than a snapped mirror.

Never in the USA- a few other countries- you will notice that many vehicles, cage or bike- are missing thier mirrors. Look at a traffic interesection in Vietnam or Indonesia sometimes. Made my sphinter tighten right up every time I negotiated one.

Get-a-grip-Greg - you're my new hero for your on-the-fly suspension-related commuter/pillager mirror dodging techniques.

I get this image like the "Lone Biker of the Apocalypse" from Raising Arizona. But updated w/ a KTM.
