My dad bought a timeshare from a guy. Actually, he just wanted to use it for a week, but the guy said "...no no, its yours!" Which seemed too good to be true. Guess what...

Its a money pit. And they can't really use it because its in Oregon and he's 80+ yrs old.

I told him to just sell it like the guy he "bought" it from. He thinks its like selling a turd and doesn't want to do that to someone else. Hey, maybe if they use it it would be worth it. :dunno

Anyway, who wants a free timeshare on the beach in Oregon?

:laughing

Timeshares, have for the most part, been a very bad investment for most people for decades now!

I've always thought that there should be one High School class semester where they teach people things that will really aid them as an adult. Not buying a timeshare should be one of the things they teach!

Listing agent with last name Trump and property relabeled as vacation club.

Some chump will invest.

I'm up north, and hereby volunteer to go check it out for the weekend :D

Sure, just sign this piece of paper with some words on it, and its yours " for the weekend".

:laughing

Offer free weekends in exchange for sitting through a "fascinating two-hour seminar on multi-level marketing that will change your life!!!!" Make buying the timeshare a condition of leaving the seminar early. Should be an easy sale.

We'll, OK. I guess that sounds about as good as anything else. Just be sure to burn the whole complex. He doesn't own any particular unit, but rights to one of the units in a complex.

Curious to know what the fees are and what you get for them!

It seems to vary widely, depending on a huge range of variables. There's usually maintenance fees in the hundreds. Really, I don't understand what the appeal is.... I think people think they own these things! :laughing

My dad just wanted to check out Oregon, now it's this mess. :rolleyes

Heh can make it a traditional Sport fishing vacation spot. Go up once a year to catch a Tuna and do some crabbing.
Then do a Winter stay and huddle up. Cause you'll have front seats experiencing Pacific Storms that roll in.
Advertise and pick up a few vacationers each year.
Too bad you didn't get the free flight and stay in Vegas. :laughing

Each time I hear someone doing one of those TimeShare seminars. They say we'll just enjoy the free trip but not get a timeshare. Heh guess what everytime they come back with a Timeshare. :laughing

still paying $200 a month for our 'vacation club'

dumbest thing we ever did....twice.

Can you dad give his week to one of the other timeshare owners effectively giving them an extra week? I mean if somebody else bought 1/52 maybe they want 2/52 of it.

This is actually a good idea. Now I need to figure out how to contact someone who likes what they have enough to want twice as much!
