How to open your locked garage in 6 seconds

My ex GF had a foolproof way. She'd get drunk and back her Volvo Station Wagon into the doors. Worked every time.

That's ... ummm... kinda worrisome.

That would take a lot longer (more likely, be impossible) if there's no window you can see the garage door opener release latch through.

And for those with no garage door opener....

Perhaps but many do have these; my reason for posting. Mine doesn't have windows; & again I have a INSIDE padlock on it when away from home.

I have an opener, a handle & an arm...:p :teeth

I'm not saying this issue isn't something to be concerned about, just that there's no need to panic and run home to put a padlock on your latch if your garage door is windowless.

Hell, I'm going to try this out on my own garage door later today and see if it's possible to "feel" the latch. I'm pretty good at popping car doors open by slipping a coat hanger wire down the window gasket and feeling for the lock shaft.
Either way, I'll probably put something in the latch. Doesn't really even have to be a padlock, just something that can't get knocked out of the hole.

i have a sign on my garage that says...'Warning! Only buells stored here!' so pretty much the only thing i have to worry about is someone breaking in to put a honda in my garage out of pity.

No window here either but I leave my door cracked open about 4". Both my dogs and I would be happy if someone tried to break into my garage.

If my dogs don't get them all the crap in my garage would. (I'd probably get sued)

:rofl I'm gonna start a new sign company.

Something tells me that this trick would be just as easy without a window if you had a little practice. Just find the very center of the door, go straight in "feel" for the rope, go up and pop.

-As Carlo stated, it's not unlike popping a car door latch with a slim jim and you're doing that blind as well.
