All I know is that every freaking pair of A* boots I have had fell apart at the seams. I'll stick with Sidi or Oxtar.

When I ride my bike, I look like Cycle Gear vomited on me.

With my Sedichi/Bilt/A*/SevenZeroSeven outfit and all.

Oh - and for all or you whiny bitches who are about to flame me with "If you have a $10 dollar head - wear a $10 helmet (marketing genius by Bell, I think): I have only had one head injury in 9 crashes. And it was in an $800 Arai.*

Luck of the draw with how your head contacts the pavement, tree, Poodle, etc... I think.

*I am still a fan of Arai and wear their helmets often.

Leave the Poodles alone!!! That's not a nice thing to do to a poodle... :shame

I love my A*... that's all I've been wearing for the last 7 years. 2 pairs, with a LOT of miles on them! :thumbup

And I'm going to chime in on the "Hurray for Cycle Gear" bandwagon... I get spam from them pretty regularly, usually I just delete it. For some reason, about 3 weeks ago, I actually checked out what they had on sale. They were advertising their line of "Freeze Out" gear. Since I don't have any textiles, and freeze my ass off on the rare occurances that I ride in the winter, I thought "what the hell". They had the jersey on sale for $25 (normally something like $40-$45), and the glove liners for $10 with purchase (usually around $25, I think). Bought the jersey, got the gloves.
The jersey does an OK job. If the temperature is below 50°, I'm still going to get chilled (as opposed to freezing my ass off). The glove liners, however, are the greatest thing since sliced bread!! I ride with fully vented leather race gloves... makes me miserable if I'm out in the cold. With the glove liners on, my fingers were toasty warm, and even after several hours of being out in the cold, it wasn't until I was almost home, at dusk, that I started thinking that my fingers just might possibly be thinking about maybe being cold.
Also, as is usual at the Pleasanton store, the guys there were super-helpful and friendly.

Sweet man! Nice job on gearing the girlie. Now all you gotta do is get her drunk and toss her from the back with a wheelie at 2am in the morning.

Yes I said it.... Zombie thread!!!!

You sound like one hell of a catch.

You won't buy A* gear for yourself and are an admitted gear snob, but your girlfriend gets crap?

Furthermore, yuo said something to the effect of "I got a bunch of cuyclegear bucks for xmas and wanted to spend it on my girlfriend", then go on to say that your girlfriend picked out a pair of gloves and they were more than SHE wanted to spend, so you decided to help her pay for them?

I repeat, you must be one hell of a boyfriend. What's next, steak for you while she eats dog food?

At least he is attempting to gear her up unlike a few people I know....

Don't forget the double tap!!

As I say in every thread, I've never had a problem with CG. Even if the employees aren't always the most knowledgeable, they always put in the effort. And any gear I want that they don't have in stock, I just order.

Also, as is usual at the Pleasanton store, the guys there were super-helpful and friendly.

I have it on good authority that a girl was super helpful there :p And she was happy to hear you liked your gloves.

See I've heard of a* gear falling apart which is :thumbdown I know they make everything from bilt quality to race spec which is why I don't really like them. At what price range does the good stuff start? I'd prefer to stick with a brand that I KNOW is good.

I like cyclegear just not their actual stores. I get it ya know, inexpensive gear, its not for me, just like inexpensive toilet paper. Pass.

And their oil filters are double the price of road riders. wat da hick?

That won't happen because I just bought the anti drunk girl tosser from Givi

For sure dude! I just don't have a spare $1000 to drop on her. And ironically, she currently wears and extremely ugly bilt jacket. It's a leather jacket I bought well over a year ago online for $60. Had no idea who or what bilt was at the time and I bought it in case I had a future gf who wanted to ride.

Now that we've got her a helmet, boots and gloves, next is replacing that crappy jacket before it falls apart and hopefully some over pants. Even though god knows I'd be a hypocrite to make her wear them :teeth

My boy rode and roadraced all year in Bilt gloves and boots, even had a couple of low speed crashes in them and still wears them. We have some dirt bike gear also. For the price, especially when it's on sale, it's fine.

We've spent thousands at Cycle Gear in many locations, starting before Bilt was the norm, hundreds in the last year. No complaints, even have praise for them and their staff.

I have never met the little blonde girl bully that I've heard of, though. She sounds scawy.

She was an absolute doll! We had a nice chat... she said she was going to be transferring to the South Bay. If they kick that blond uber-bitch to the curb, and bring in that little gal from Pleasanton, then the San Jo store is getting one hell of an upgrade! :thumbup

And yup, those glove liners are the SHIT!! Kept my hands warm, Ima happy camper! :)

Also i just saw on the freeway the other day a couple riding two-up on a R6 inwitch neightor of them had gloves, he was wearing loafers and she some sort of slip on heel shoe.. making appeared as if they spent all there money on helmets and jackets...

as long as she (mine) is properly protected i could live with the bilt gear.

good on you.
