Insurance $4000 quote?!?

i was quoted 14000 lol.. call this guy... his name is Sal.. google "same day insurance" he is down in so cal.. he is a broker.. i found him out of random and he got me insurance for 100 a month.. 1200 a year. and its through progressive.

What limits?

Yes, that is exactly what they think and what their statistics tell them about 24 year olds with 2 years experience riding 600cc supersports.

Yep. There was a statistic floating around here a few years back about the half-life of liter bikes. I don't recall it exactly, but an astounding number had their first claim within 30 days.

that's one reason I stopped riding for a few years in my twenties. the insurance cost was more than price of the bike.

It may have changed since I last checked, but I don't think State Farm does moto only.

I do agree, though - SF was a good bit less than other quotes I got.

I had just a bike insured with them last summer, wasn't a problem. Reasonable price.

What I ended up doing with my current policy, was to buy 250K Liability, 250K UIM, and a $1M umbrella policy with UIM coverage. Turned out to be cheaper than cranking up UIM to the level I prefer.

try state farm. pretty cheap for a larger company. paid 400.00 year on an 08 gsxr600 full coverage GL

Thanks I will have to check that out!

Also thanks everyone who contributed to this thread. Appreciate everyone's suggestions.

I will have to shop around to see who can give me a better deal. I was just shocked at 4000 price tag!

I now have a policy through progressive/usaa for 35/month. Ninja 250 for a 21 year old.

Albeit I get a good driver discount and the MSF discount but I doubt it matters that much.
Not full coverage, but even that would have been around 500-600. Mine is only so high to cover bodily injury until I get real health insurance.

yeah thats about right...

get a cheap bike with minimal insurance, I have a sheedy record (lead wrist) and 1 accident I paid 4xx last year my car is 700 a year?

Best I've found was with ADAM at titan auto in santa rosa.

You are the age insurance companies hate the most.

theydon't Hate 24 yr olds, its just that statistically, 24yr old ride and drive fast and consequently, crash alot. Therefore, since they pay out more frequently for insuring 24 yr olds, the insurance companies charge 24 yr olds a higher premium!

they could just make a flat rate for everyone, $1750/yr - no matter your age, driving record, number of past claims, or type and cc
bike you ride...

that would be so awesome!!:twofinger

If State Farm are still basing their underwriting guidelines on engine size (cc), the OP may be able to get a decent deal...As far as I know, they don't care about value or type of the bike so a literbike can cost less to insure than a Sporty 1200 or a 600cc RR can cost less to insure than a shadow 750.

Geico is outrageous. I don't know what it is, but they've never given me a quote under $2000. I must be the exact opposite of what they want to insure...yet I've never filed a claim.

When I was in my early 20's and had a new R6, Geico wouldn't even give me a quote. They basically said, we are not able to insure you. I ended up going with Allstate for about $1200 a year.

Ironically now that I've hit 30, Geico by far has the best rates. I've been with them for several years and have tried getting better quotes from State Farm and Progressive and others but they can never beat or even match Geico's rates.

I have had Allstate since I was 20 with my first bike (brad new 2000 GSXR600).....best quote I had received comparted to Geico/Progressive/Stat Farm/etc.....

12 years later (and working for a different insurance company), for me Allstate still has the best rate. Although I'm not exactly happy 100% with their claims service since I wrecked my bike a few weeks ago and just got done dealing with my claim.
