Insurance policy issues

You probably heard wrong. In California you legally have to have at least liability coverage of something like 15000 per person/25000 per incident. If you have the bare minimum, it's liability.

I'll have to talk to my agent to be sure. I'm 90% sure I asked abou liability and they said they didn't offer coverage.

Perhaps you are confusing liability(payments to cover the other person) with coverage for your own injuries? My insurance (progressive) only offered between 1k and 5k coverage for my own injuries(and that of a passenger). We all know that wont cover much. The agent basically said use my regular health insurance for any injuries sustained from riding.

Why? Cause I think he should just get a drivers license instead of going through this ridiculous situation?
Had you taken the time to read through the posts before posting yourself, you would've realized that "this ridiculous situation" STARTS when I GET my M1 License, regardless of a driver's license or not. Parents -> Umbrella Policy -> Different insurance company -> Increased Premium -> Regardless of M1 License or Driver's License. (Or so they say, but now I'll be shopping around)

You should ask your agent to explain what it all means too :thumbup

Liability covers costs on the other party if you are found at-fault in an incident.
The state minimum is 15k/30k. That reads 15k per person, 30k per accident. (If there are three people you hurt, they only get 30k total, split between them.)

Comprehensive covers things to your vehicle which are not your fault and not from a collision. Most carriers will make an exception for deer and other wild animals. But other than that, it'll cover your vehicle for it being tipped over, keyed, stolen, etc. Comprehensive claims generally do not raise your premiums. There is typically a deductible amount with this or else you'd make a claim on everything. :laughing

Collision covers you for incidents where you are found to be at fault. Your liability will cover the other party if it is not a solo incident. But having collision coverage will cover your vehicle, and your persons as well if you opted in for medical payments.

That's the quick basics that I feel like typing out. :p

I read through everything and your whole situation is confusing, but I think I can solve it for you now.

Step 1: Move out of mommy's house.
Step 2: Get drivers license.
Step 3: Go get insurance on your own without using mommy's state farm plan. If you can't afford it sell your bike and get one when you can.

Sorry, but your plan lacks logic. If I'm worried about increased premiums, why would I stress my finances even further by moving out? First off, you don't know my housing situation. Secondly, as I JUST STATED, a driver's license WILL NOT DECREASE MY INSURANCE PREMIUM. Lastly, as I posted before, which I would've expected you to read since you said you "read through everything", I am NOT using my mom's State Farm policy. She has an UMBRELLA PLAN, and if you do not understand what that is, there's no reason to post any further. I know you're trying to help, as brutally honest as you can, but your logic is lacking, as well as your comprehension skills. Not trying to be rude, just trying to lay it out as brutally honest as you are.

Erik, you and Daniel are in the same low IQ league.

Daniel does not have a driver's license!!! Do you get it? Breaking news: yes, there's a punishment for driving without a license.
Look up "learner's permit, and maybe you will learn something.

I've noticed that you have plenty of strong opinions on subjects you know nothing about, InNoHurry; how about you STFU on this one, eh?

The chillage needs to happen, and like, now, folks... I read the first post, and then read the last few posts, and it's not clear how we got from point A (simple question) to point B (generally pissyness and unpleasantry). Let's get it back on track and ease up on the tough love approach or else I will force you to wash my dusty Ducati with a Q-tip and your toothbrush for the next week.

Although a mod has outlined the ground rules, in MysterYvil's defense, and much to my liking, InNoHurry was asking for it.

A mod may feel free to close this thread whenever they feel it necessary. It seems it's open season for trolling and sadly it had to be a thread that I created to seek out useful advice, but to those who have given advice to me and/or other posters in this thread, I thank you. :party

no no. You just joined this year so I guess you wouldn't know. Orb wasn't dissin you or anything, he was just saying our OP is similar to stevendavisfoto.

stevendavisfoto was a member on here that posted a bunch of typcal nub stuff a year or two ago. He must've posted 3 or 4 threads a day for a week just posting and asking about "ridiculous scenarios" just as how you described OP. Basically he made threads that were full of air and asking everyone to hold his hand through every wake of life.
