I just set up a new Mac Mini, and it's not logged into iCloud at all. Does it ask too? Of course it does, I just said "No".

And everything I use works, including the internet, my local dev environment, etc.

Same with the iPhone. You don't have to use iCloud at all.

As far as I can tell, You cannot use it for anything without some kind of special AppleI Login. But Hey, of you can can plug any old $5 USB A cable into it and use any old attached device without special drivers, and then do the same to connect your phone and use it as a portable storage device, I'm all good.

Saw a review video tonight that mentions there no Face ID, it uses a fingerprint ID instead.
And if you just washed your hands or they are greasy the sensor is finicky.
And the sensor is no where near your hand when you’re in portrait.

It’s noticeably heavy and thick.

The selfie camera is 4 MP which is useless.

When watching a movie there are black bars top and bottom making the viewing about the same as the 18 pro.
YouTube vids show bigger than on the 18.

The volume buttons are on the top instead of on the side.

There is no physical privacy switch to put the phone in silent mode.

It ain’t perfect.

no clue what your issue is. all of my devices are apple, and i use a 5tb external drive for all of my large storage and backups. seamless and super easy. no special drivers.

I got the 18 max plus whiz-bang yada yada last week, upgrading from the 16 max plus whiz-bang yada yada. Not worth the dosh IMHO. The faux 8x "optical" zoom works well enough, but otherwise I wish I had saved some of my son's inheritance. Just my 2c. That, and I had to buy a new QuadLock MagSafe case. Bah. I might give it to a friend who covets the upgrade, and swap back to her 16 max plus whiz-bang yada yada. Those extra 22 grams are killing me, and slowing down my Levo R!

Yeah, apple uses USB C now on everything. Like for the last couple years at least.
