Japanese Import Car Enthusiasts

Nice s14!
Im hesitant to boost my ka. Will probably end up going the rb25det route. Old skyline motors are friggin cheap.

Here are a couple of my previous cars,

1970, low vin.

The guy I sold it to put a 3.0L Robello motor in it, dynoed 230whp.

This was my drift car. Still pissed off that I sold this one. KA turbo. Dynoed 250whp @ 10psi

Thanks! If I did it all over again, I would probably go with an RB25. It has been years since I have been keeping up with things in the "modern" import car world. What are RBs and SRs going for?

The KA turbo was awesome. The bigger S14 likes a bigger motor. I did all the KA stuff myself ( except downpipe ) in the garage. Just bought bits and pieces and put it together, then fussed with it until it worked good enough. Very fun project.

It's the sort of thing you can do on a budget, especially if you are patient and buy it all piece by piece like I did. Mind you, in the end you won't have spent a great deal less than your basic red top SR swap. If any of you are getting serious about it, JGS Turbo ( http://www.jgstools.com/turbo/index2.html ) makes great stuff. I used their waste-gate and a few other parts. Their basic turbo starter kits are quality.

Don't be afraid! Those KA motors are pretty tough

As far as I've seen, 240's really havn't changed. The "modern import scene" has moved towards low-tucked-offset stanced cars. Otherwise, 240 owners are still slinging the same old parts that were sold half a decade ago.

With that said though, a Decent rb25det with harness and everything, can be picked up for $1.5-2k. Because it's such a common swap, there are a few companies that make the full RB swap mount kits, for the S13-S14 chassis. I kinda like the VQ35-swap too. Power and torque of the 350z, with the lightness of the silvia.

It's funny how stock automatic Koukis with over 140k on the dial, still fetch upwards of 8 grand. :rofl

36 awesome pages of JDM-ness.

great thread so far, maybe I'll wash the Toyota this weekend and take some pics for you guys.

:laughing im pretty glad i made this thread :banana

I still have yet to go get my car back. Got news yesterday the motor's assembled and sealed and ready to drop in (the guys can probably do the entire drop-in in a couple hours time). But turned out that the combination I was hoping for didn't go through. I wanted the 2.2 crank, rods, and pistons in together. They used the crank, rods from the 2.2 and the pistons from the 2.0. Fortunately the compression heights are the same, but compression got bumped up to 11.7:1 so now I'm doing my homework on what to do. Looks like it'll be safe to run even with the 2.0 computer, I'm probably gonna get the 2.2 computer to run for now before getting the standalone. SO MUCH FUCKING WORK :(

What kind of HP numbers are you expecting from all that? Was there a problem with the motor before you tore it down, or is this strictly a performance rebuild?

I'm glad you did too... what's your next project?

since im pretty much done with Hondas/Acuras sadly...im going with Subaru...im aiming for a 04/05 STI...ive driven my sister's bf's 07 STI and damn it was super fun...

but im still driving my hatch around for now...no need to buy a car when im still planning to leave for the military....just hit a hiccup on the way there

Just got back from the Fast Five midnight showing at the iMax in Cupertino at Valco.

I don't want to ruin anything but you can expect the usual: lots of fist fights, gun fights, drifting, racing, scantily clad women who are incredibly hot, and awesome imports.

There was even a gen 1 GT-R. Okay I don't want to ruin any more. It was fucking fantastic. Go see it ASAP.

P.S. Stay for after the credits :teeth
