"Fuck, if I wanted to ride on something this narrow I would have stayed on Highway 9!"
My street corner speed is probably the same, or half a notch down from the "Highway 9" days in the mid 90s. Straightaway speed is considerably slower.SVsick50 said:uhhhh... that would be me. Faster (smoother) than I ever was NOW, and touch down a lot less if ever (on the street). Good point TrackHo... I'm totally experiencing what you said these days...![]()
When they first head to the track, many street riders initially sort of waddle around midcorner, dragging their knee to their hearts content. When they eventually get a little faster, they're spending less time in the corner, and less time at full lean.
The safest line through a corner typically uses the least lean angle possible. Naturally, many new track riders love the lean angle. As they get faster and develop better lines, many riders actually drag less.
When track riders return to the street and drag less, I think as much of it has to do with safer, better lines through corners learned from the racetrack. I dragged everywhere on the street in the early / mid 90s. These days, rarely.
Then again, these days I tend to spend my weekends mountain biking
