Knee sliders without leathers?

He already said that he doesn't have ball to wear chaps.I think maybe the balls hold the chaps up better or something.

Buy some leathers, or stop hanging off.

Simple.

I "didn't have the money" for leathers either, but i made it work when i started dragging knee.

To those of you calling him out for dragging knee on the street...it's more than possible to do it safely and sanely. Ask Yody, who would watch me drag knee everywhere when he's not even remotely close to touching down. :laughing

The first time I ever put a knee down I duct taped a Bud can to my knee just to see if I could, The I bought some low budget leathers the next day and started leaving the icechest at home.

i was kidding about the assless chaps of course.

OP - you're being a cheapass. You could buy used leather pants for a cheap price. They got pretty cheap textile pants too that i would imagine hold up better than jeans marginally. You can't be a tightwad with your money AND then feel like you're getting the h8erade dumped on you

That's because we smell the :bs

And what with after this past weekend's tragic events, your timing and choice of topic is nigh on impeccable... :|

+100

I rode through one of those tragic scenes over the weekend and it's a real eye opener to see what can happen when it all goes wrong

Please take it to the track

Go see Helimot in San Jose they rent/sell suits there

It doesn't seem like there would be any reason to be hanging off or draggin knee if you're just putting around on city streets. Especially if you don't have the proper gear to do so. Isn't that just unnecessary risk to everyone? Especially on a Hyosung 250 turning in an intersection, are you really turning so tight and fast that you need to lean down that low? It would be better to enjoy all that at the track or in a closed course/parking lot.

Check it out home boy..

Its cool and all to get the ole' puck down. But are you really going through a turn faster or is that reaching out for the road making you go slower through the turn? The object of everyone here who likes to boogie through the twisty bits is(should be)
"how can I go through the turn more efficiently?"
Your knee should only touch when its pinned between the fairing and the track.
Knee planted on the road ain't it.....

You dont see riders in MotoGP "reaching out".They only touch sliders when there is no room left to lean..

I remember seeing a rider at the top of Palomar once. (Only once) He had a nice set of custom made knee sliders on his Levis. I believe they were chunks of 2x4 held on with duct tape. Cheap, and easy to find at any lumber store. :thumbup

Here's the deal, go to any Motorcycle tire shop that has a stack of discarded tires out back. Choose the coolest looking rear tire, and take it home. Cut it in 6 equal length sections, and punch or drill small holes near the bead for zip ties. Whenever you can find re-usable zip ties it will reduce your money outlay there, but, anyway zip tie a section of tire on your knee and have at it. :rofl

One more thing, after adding a quart of oil to anything, there is a little oil still in the bottle, cut the bottle open and get that oil on your fingers and spead it on the tire/knee pads, you want those baby's to slide, not grab traction.
Just mentioning this out of a deep sense of social responsibility :)

The OP has a good head on his shoulders and is a good rider.I know first hand he knows what happens when you get in over your head or loose focus for a moment. I hang of alot when I ride, helps to keep the bike more upright and leaves room for more lean if you need it. Max I say get some cheep leathers for sundays, and during the week stick your toe out so it drags and you can use that as a lean gauge before you knee touches down.

That a great suggestion .... dragging motor oil all over the racing lines sure sounds like a great idea ....

Racing lines :wtf...at the track?? He can't afford leathers....let alone a track day....

There are no racing lines on the street, and I didn't say slobber sloppy application, just wipe on the film with your finger tips, AND (drum roll) I thought it was bazzar enough to plainly be a :rofl joke.

Dude, I call BS. I'll tell you what - save yourself the cost of repairing your bike. If you want to smash yourself, get your buddy to drive you on the freeway and jump out of the car.

Save some cash, get the leather. You'll feel a lot better in the end, and no one will rip on you.

If you can't afford leather pants with knee sliders, you obviously can't afford medical insurance or the cost of a hospital stay.

Slow down before you permanently and irreversibly fuck up your life.
