*Liam's Wild Ride*

Unfortunately, I think a lot of the special access we have seen in the past will slowly be going away. What I think it will be replaced with though is more of an insiders look at being part of an integral team performing for a world stage.

Unfortunately I think you're right. Given the degree of secrecy that now surrounds the sport, I'd say that this is a certainty. And given the current legal wranglings with Dunlop that the D'Antin team is involved in...

Welcome to MotoGP!

Thank you all for your belief and your support.

I'm too tired to post now, but I'll be back to fill you guys in tomorrow, and throughout the next couple days before the Catalunya GP.

Now this is what I call a WELCOME TO MOTOGP!

I'll take the one directly to your left, thank you very much!

I'll take the one on the far left of you, Liam. Bring her to Catalunya, won't you.

Also, last call for anyone going to BCN? Sara and I have been in contact and are trying to setup a meet. Anyone else???

Liam,
Probably you won't have much time to post as much as you did, but thanks for sharing. I hope you never lose that fire in your belly.

Hello everyone,

I'm still in shock from this past week of working at Mugello and I haven't quite the words the describe this fantastic experience. While it's true I'm going to be busier than ever, I will find time to post on Barf when I can - assuming I have an internet connection - which I didn't in Italy.

I get a total charge out of inspiring others to follow their dreams and not to fear change. Embrace it. Realize that money isn't the end-all, be-all. What is important, what really has value, is Time. As motorcyclists, we all face increased risks on the road, and on the track. Do something with your time; don't have a bag full of regrets when the train comes to a stop. Smile more.

Naturally, I'm going to be concentrating on whatever it takes to do the best job I can, so much of my time will be spent training, learning, and prepping myself for the grueling set of races that occur on a weekly basis. In Mugello, I averaged between four and five hours of sleep per night, and over the course of a week's working, I spent nearly 100 hours in close contact with my teamates. We're becoming more and more like family, and that is a very positive thing. Factor in that starting next week there are three race weeks in a row (it's no longer a race weekend for me, but a five or six day event, depending on testing on Mondays) and I expect to be on the road the entire time.

I for one, am looking forward to a new leaf of this thread adding to what is already a solid tree.

Correct. This is an incredibly stressful and demanding line of work, and I won't compromise myself or my position in any way. With the amount of money at stake, and my reputation, I will reserve certain opinions and instead focus on providing different insights to the MotoGP world. I can't begin to tell you what I've learned already, and as Curt mentioned, it's merely the end of the beginning of the journey for me. An incredible faith and trust has been placed in me, and I'm responsible for doing the right thing. This by no means signals that I'm dropping off the map, it means that you are going to see and hear things that no one else will talk about, things that people and magazines don't report about - the real, everyday, race world experience that happens at the top of the game. This is the highest level, this is World Class, this is MotoGP.

What I can talk about are some of the other experiences I've had this past year. For various reasons I have kept certain things quiet (got me, Stuff?), but I see nothing wrong with describing the time I spent working in World Superbike with Ducati NCR, and other fun, educational, and interesting pursuits. As much as I have posted on Barf, there's always more to the story :wink

This is my new team, and I'm proud to be a part of it.

Full Mugello report to follow as time permits.
Rock on.

Congrats bro!!!! No wonder I never got a reply.:laughing :laughing

Just listening to the MotoGPod now. No wonder I did not see you at Mugello. I got in the paddock but did not know what team you were on (I wish I read the thread more closely) so I just kept walking up and down the back side of the pits between the end of the 250 race and the start of the big boys.

No need to add disclaimers, Liam. We do understand that life is going to be different.

Speaking for me, even if you never posted another thing, I'd be happy with what I've read so far. I have had so much pleasure and entertainment in reading what you've posted that I could dine out on it for a long time.

I love the group shot. It's amazing how you stand out in that picture.

Holy crap man.

That is so freaking awesome.

Hope you keep going strong.

And hope to meet you at Lugna along with the thousand other BARFers. Hope you hand shakeing hand is up to par.

Do they let you ride the bikes? ;)

Or at least sit on them?

:laughing

:thumbup A big thumbs up on following your dream and seeing it come true!!

So many people just go through their lives having dreams but never having the guts to just go for it! You have not only followed your dream but are now living it in such a public manner that it will very likely inspire others to take the chance and follow theirs!

You have a gift of communicating well with others and you have used it very well indeed in a manner that will have positive influence on others! That must truly be icing on the cake that you are now eating! :thumbup

Thanks everyone! And Climber - yes. I hope to inspire people to get out of their day to day lives and kick some ass!

Now, a little bit about Mugello and the fun times I had there. Flying in from Spain means you follow the coastline along the mediterranean, and it's magnificent. Once you hit major land, there are patchworks of color and the fields really come alive. Throw in a mess of waterways, lakes, and and well painted villages, and you end up with what I feel has been the nicest country I've flown over.

I flew into Firenze, Florence, on Tuesday afternoon. It's nestled in a picturesque valley and is small and quaint. We took a shuttle bus (which seems common everywhere but the states) from the plane to the baggage claim/main airport area. They only had two carousels!

Welcome to Italy! I ended up spending a few hours at the aeroporto while we waited for a team member who was flying in from France.

Might as well have a snack. There was only one food place at the airport, and naturally, they served pizza. Eat your heart out you Sbarro lovers!

Fiat produces really cool little cars, like the Fiat Panda Monster (a collaboration with Ducati) and also this bizarre looking thing, which I've seen all over.
