This kind of shit belongs on FB, not LinkedIn, right?

Am I just being a cynical cold-hearted bastard for not believing in this shit? Or, should I give them the benefit of the doubt that this is real?
#IWantToBelieve

And to top it off, it's amazing how many people post crazy shit on LinkedIn. Like they don't understand that future employers can see their batshit craziness on full display.

The anti-vax stuff is prevalent on there as well. Even people in my industry, you know, science shit, even scream about anti-vax and whine about mask mandates.

Positive is good wherever you find it.

Maybe the dude does not Bookface.

I recall hearing folks fleeing from facebook to LinkedIn after facebook started getting particularly rotten with ads, sponsored content, and the algorithm urging people into online conflict and toxic arguments. Maybe this is the net result of that.

He'll need that $400 to cover repairs on those junk Samsung machines :laughing

People that post that kind of stuff on LinkedIn get dropped from my connections. I use it for recruiting and don't have the time to wade through that FB stuff. :dunno

100% can agree. washing machine is hanging on, dryer shat the bed in 3 years, costs more to repair than it's worth. wish i'd had a crystal ball and gotten a good brand for barely more money.

the more boring and feature-less the machine the longer it will last. well 5ish years max these days. Unless you spend $$$$ for something commercial grade/laundromat level like a Speedqueen

I hate when people send me messages through LinkedIn and I don’t give a shit what articles were liked by someone on my contact list.

Honestly linkedin as a social media platform is fucking weird. It's like a cringey corporate positivity circle jerk. Linkedin "influencers" are this but magnified

I got a least expensive no frills Whirpool washer and dryer in 1999. The dryer lasted 21 years until it crapped out. The washer was still going, but I decided to replace them both last year. Kenmore. More features than the 20 year old predecessors, but still fairly basic.

I don't trust electronics companies with durable appliances. Heard nothing but bad things about Samsung appliances, though I dig their phones.

I didn't even know Linked In had a social media component like that. Why? Isn't it for hiring and resumes and shit? Seems like the last place you'd want to social media.

It's pretty much always been social media by the definition of social media. But the intent WAS networking, posting career accomplishments, resume uploads, milestones, etc. Which it was for awhile. Social with a professional intention for working class folk to talk just about career discussions, opportunities, etc.

Then people started using it as another platform for things they would crosspost to other personal social media platforms too.

When people are presented with tools, they will use them the way they want. yes, the tools presented by linkedIn were designed for employment connections, but they can be used for anything. Fundamentally they're pretty close to facebook's toolset, which is intended for connecting friends and family.

Bingo. I get a lot of people adding me or attempting to connect with me just because of my line of work and generally, I'll add anyone as networking is really a good thing for people to do. However, since LinkedIn is for professional connections and business networking and nothing else, once I start seeing personal crap posted that has nothing to do with your career, you get dropped. I had a connection posting their wedding photos the other day... :nchantr

Damn.

I so rarely look or respond. I don’t even know how to drop a contact.

Never had a LinkedIn. This reminds me to delete FB tho so thanks for that

Don't delete FB (you can't anyway); fuck up their alogo's at least for your profile. Make yourself a person that can't possibly exist by the things you click on the like etc. It's totally the way to go. A Toby Keith fan who loves Allah AND Mormons...DONE.

I need a new refrigerator. Gimme this guy's contact info.

He's only got the one Sybian left....ideas on where he's gonna put your $75?

:rofl

Hell of a plan!

LinkedIn is the only "social media" that I've ever participated in and I only did that when I was still looking for another job back in 2015. I still get notes asking me if I know somebody and would like to add them to my contacts. What bugs me the most about LinkedIn is that the only choice is "Yes, connect". I want an option of "no, I've never heard of this person, please don't ask again!"

Peeking at the site, I see that I actually do know five out of seven recommended people, but I'm not going to request that they connect with me. If they want to request that of me, sure, but nobody seems to do that for some reason.

I had to make sure that the very first word of my profile was "Retired" because otherwise I would keep getting stuff from recruiters with job offers. I still get a few even at that. "I am firmly committed to never working again." :cool
