List of California ADV-related Events - 2024 & Now 2025

just booked my room for the BARF Swinging Winger Kernville rally:
Swinging Winger 6/23-25, 2023 Kernville Rally,
and updated this thread's google docs tab.

so my 2023 ADV rides so far are looking like:
n00bs DV Rally: March 17-27
StonyBARF/Shasta ADV Campout: May 3-7
BARF Morro Bay: May 11-14
BARF Kernville: June 22-25
Downieville Dayz/BARF Weaverville: July 19-30

the Sheetiron 300 should be May 19-21, if it's the weekend after Mother's Day? :dunno

giving up on WARPED.

and finish out the year with BARF Hawthorn and BARF Stonyford in September.

Enterprise, OR, is about 800 miles from the SF Bay area in the northeast corner of the state. my various twenty-year-old pre-Gen KLRs qualify. :laughing

Due to the awesome snow pack we have we are pushing back to September 29-30, 2023.

The original dates would have been too much of a real crap shoot as to whether the planned route would have been open.

Since there was a conflict with Stonybarf17 I consider this a good thing!
Now I should be able to make both.
 
Nice! Hopefully I can make the September dates for Shasta. Gonna try for Wednesday/Thursday night at StonyBARF so I can be home for the kiddo's baseball game on Saturday

Glad to see that someone picked up the reins for the End of Pavement Rally. I'd like to do that again.

The Redding Dirt Riders have received several emails and calls inquiring about this year's adventure ride.

Originally we had planned to hold it in May again, however due to ongoing weather and current snow conditions we have decided to move it back to september. The route this year heads north and is currently buried under several feet of snow.

We are super excited to share this ride with everyone, it is an approximately 150 mile mostly dirt road tour along the trinity river headwaters. You will get to see some parts of Shasta-Trinity National Forest that few ever experience. We will stop at one of the many lakes for a remote fuel and food provided by the club and return along the ridge.

This year's ride will now be SEPTEMBER 29-30 so mark your calendars we hope to see you all there. Camping/staging will be at Shasta-Chappie OHV area same as last year we will begin and end our ride there.

got confirmation from Mr @cwanger2000--who is the Oakland MC Road Captain this year, I think--about the OMC 2023 Sheetiron 300 dates--which will be the weekend after Mother's Day this year, making it May 19-21, 2023.

my 2022 Sheetiron 300 was a bit of a disaster, so hopefully 2023 won't see me needing to count on the kindness of Mr 1962siia to scrape my family back to SF ... :laughing

I've added the Oakland Motorcycle Club's 2023 Sheetiron 300 dates to our google docs, under the 2023 tab. :ride

they stage out of the Lake Pillsbury Fuller Grove PG&E group campground, and eat really well. not to be missed, if you've never joined them. :party

guess the very last addition to our 2023 tab will be the second 2023 StonyBARF, which will probably also be in September.

It would be awesome to see some BARFers there. If you go, make sure to find me and introduce yourself if we don't already know each other. I'm a "core volunteer" and I'm doing a few presentations, so I'll be there from beginning to end.

BTW, you definitely don't need to ride a GSA1250 to be an ADV rider. One of the best presentations I can recall was given by a young woman who bought a Honda 125 in Chile, then rode it to Ushuaia, then home to Seattle. She rode that same bike to Mariposa for HUBB -- with a passenger! I myself rode a Ninja 250 to my first HUBB meeting in Petrolia back in 2009, and nobody laughed at me. :teeth

agree with you about how wonderful small bikes are in making adventure riding fun and accessible ... no one would recognize me if I showed up on a GSA1250, instead of my 22-year-old, $2k, usual ride, god bless Kawasaki. :facepalm:laughing

guess we’re waiting to see if the May StonyBARF event will be canceled, next? :dunno

Horizons Unlimited California 2023 event cancelled until next year

Unfortunately, the 2023 HU California Travellers Meeting in Mariposa has also just been cancelled as well. This year's storms are really taking their toll.

We're going to try for next year in mid-April again and have confirmed that we can rent the entire Mariposa fairgrounds site for April 18-24 2024. Fingers crossed for better weather next year!
