Make your own pants

count me in on this also!! PM me with the details if things materialize. I agree on having some pockets sewn into the hips for pads to be inserted. Like the pads that come in dirt pants, there thin but better than nothing I guess.

I've stayed away from the Draggin jeans for the same reason as everyone else...those things fit tighter than my underwear! :teeth :p

Havin my own set of custom pants would be cool!

Yes, I'll get a spool of 200 yards of kevlar thread, think that's enough? :D (it's like 15 bucks). Ok, so I should have the sample pack the guy is sending me in the next 2 or 3 days, so say monday or tuesday I'll tally up the people interested and figure like 1.5 yards per pair (if it ends up using less you don't pay for the excess) and order that much.

Sounds Fun, I'm in! They can be barf brand jeans! Screw the stickers, I want my barf jeans!

Oh Oh, and we can have matching shirts, socks, the whole outfit! It will be soooo cute! Maybe a spiffy kevlar and lace baggies for all our motorcycling goodies! Mommy would be so proud...C'mon boys, we are going to sew!

i'm down, we need to get things organized though. find out how much per person, and where we can pick the stuff up, etc. thanks

I should be getting the samples today or tomorrow, and I'm going to take them to a tailor and see what they'd charge/how much fabric per pair (this will vary depending on the person/pants but I should be able to get some rough estimates). I'm getting the kevlar from Chicago Protective Apparel.

Maybe even talk to Johnsons leathers since they make custom suits. I would imagine they can do the kevlar for us. Besides I would tend to trust those guys tailoring the goods then a typical suitmaker. I'll give Johnsons a call later on today to see what they say.

sylvainsf, do you plan on fronting the money and the collecting later? Or do you want to collect now.

Maybe you could even set up a paypal account so getting the money will be easier.

Ok... I just talked with Johnsons Leathers.
They were not to optimistic about this idea. They said that the inserts would pose a problem along the rear because of the pockets in the back of the denim. I don't see how that would cause a problem but they would know better then me. They carry kevlar in stock that they use in all their leather suits which is shipped from switzerland. He says its top notch.

However he did not say he couldn't do it. Just that it would not be very cost effective compared to the draggin jeans. I informed him I gotta look Swayze for the ladies. He just said to bring in the jeans that we wanted done and he would see what he could do.

He did mention that he created panels and inserts for armor for a set of jeans that a customer wanted. So yes he can do it. Its just gonna cost us.
