Mat Mladin accused of child sex crimes in Australia

No one here knows if the allegations are true or not but I know this much, he was a complete ass each and every time I was near him. I spent some time in the Yosh paddock with Aaron Yates over the course of a few years and while I never new Mladin personally I watched him treat virtually everyone around him like pure shit.
Being an asshole obviously doesn't make you a child molester but I can speak from personal experience when I say he was an arrogant prick and not a good guy.
 
I've met more than one asshole AMA racer.

Let's wait until the trial is over before we hang him. It looks better that way.
 
I am certainly not ready to hang him. As I said in my post, we don't know if any of this is true or not.
I was merely saying that he has zero sympathy or goodwill in my bank.

That was my experience with him and Yates as well when I helped out at a rider meet & greet at our local Suzuki dealer, maybe 2001... I was joking around with Yates, who seemed to genuinely enjoy the situation, and the people lining up for autographs, while Mladin acted like he was handed sneezed on tissues with every poster.

Ernie's right though, let's see how this plays out before the pitchforks are sharpened and the torches lit, but they're close by.

Yeah, Aaron Gobert was amazingly respectful when I dealt with him, but I was working a side hustle as a bouncer on Cannery Row during the heyday of USGP's, but I told him I knew who he was and got him and his gal pal inside a little quicker...

I've met Mat both at and away from the track. Much nicer and relaxed guy when not during a race weekend.
 
The charges are disgustingly vile.

That said, they are CHARGES and not convictions.

If it turns out to be true, there just are no sufficient words for how nasty and disgusting that is.

I hope it is all some horrible misunderstanding or something and far far from what the news report suggests.

We all need to hold our judgement until the case is closed.
 
Subscribing to this for updates. I was never bothered by his sour persona, but these accusations are beyond disturbing. Ugh...
 
I've met Mladin, Yates, Gobert and more. Mladin was intense. Not a bad guy. Gobert, met at a gas station by Cannery Row was with some chick in a rental car and wanted us to score for him. Nicky Hayden had a handshake that would crush your hand. But the biggest prick I ever met is a tie between Chris Ulrich and Kurtis Roberts. Arrogant fucks the both of them.
 
Rumor from Australia that he and his wife had a blowup and she is trying to destroy him. Have no idea if it is true. I know it is possible. I will hold my judgment for a while. I've seen shittier things than that. Guy I knew shot his wife and killed her back in the sixties. No witness. Walked.
 
Perhaps, but if they actually brought charges there is likely more behind it than just a disgruntled wife.
Time will tell.
