Midlife crisis style...new car time

I have what I consider to be a decent paying job but I don't see where I would get the cash to buy one of those.

I guess the average person is more willing to go into debt than I am.

You'd be surprised how much money you can save if you just buckle down. Besides, software and bio-med engineers wouldn't have to save that long...not at the salaries they're getting in this area.

Everyone's either a Baja wannabe driving a Taco with rolled fenders, or an F250 with dualies that never hauls anything.

Exactly. Everyone down here thinks they're Ivan Stewart. :laughing

Well he likes going fast in a straight line and lives life a quarter mile at a time.

Those old Fox bodies make for a great start to cheaply get a car that can turn 1/4 mile times in the 10's.

You dont get into the 10's cheaply, except with a stock liter bike.

Daily driver, comfortable in traffic, modern... no none of those, but a 10 second Fox body 5.0 Mustang can be had/created for <$15k. ~$4k for the car and $11k for mods.

You'd need a few grand in the noodle frame to not break your windshield when you launch

I've wanted an LX 5.0 since they came out.

...But I never got one. Even though I did have a 2004 Roush. Go figure. :laughing

Well for one, a cage (would only need a bar actually up to 10.00s) is less than 200 bucks parts. Labors what would set you back, once again depends on if you're doing it yourself or not. That being said, i doubt a 10 second car is cracking any windshields. Subframe connectors would be even cheaper in parts, save a ton in labor, and rigid up the chassis just fine. Course you wouldn't be "legal"

Yawn. GM late to the party, as usual. And the interior is still hideous. I'll bet the GT500 will still be cheaper...and more powerful regardless.

Power isn't everthing.

At this years Lightning Lap that C&D does at Virginia, the ridiculous powerful GT500 lost to the ZL1. And it barely beat the SS 1LE by less than a second.

That new Z/28 is 300 pounds less than the ZL1 (100 less than the SS), has grippier tires, waaaay better brakes, and a lower center of gravity. I'm reasonably certain that this is going to slaughter the Ford.

I think it slots below the ZL1 in the pricing. Certainly above the 1LE though. Kinda like how the Laguna Seca 302 goes between the Boss 302 and the GT500 over in then other camp.
