Hey Patty I see you are in Antioch, maybe the next "Misfit" ride you guys have we can ride up together.... I would like to see what you misfits are all about! =)

Just make the patches.... Anyone that has a problem doesn't need to buy one.

About 10 yrs ago I was a member of a Bicycle Messenger org. that couldn't agree on a thing (including a name) until somebody made some T-shirts, then I made some hoodies...

Then I made some patches(100), at the time they cost about $4.25 a piece to make and I sold them for $5.

Like anything that was done out of love I ended up giving about 25 away. Sold some to other messengers(other cities) for $10.

In the end I made nothing...

I would do it again.

What ya all ain't understanding and Miss Happy Hornet really said it best..There was really not alot of representing North Bayer's and NB rides when I came along and Koi came along. I reached out in March as a newbie rider to look for folks here to ride with me..met a few right away who were willing to slow their roll and "tow" me around Napa/Sonoma..more folks in the area started coming out of the woodwork..we formed a breakfast meetup which is really what spawned the start of the "misfits"..just us folks up here north of all the bridges getting together for rides during teh weekdays, weekends, etc. Every time we threw a breakfast up on BARF...we would get new riders coming out..ever expanding our "misfit" crew out here..some come and go..some stick around..we hang together as friends..some of us..but it is an "organic"...growing..expanding circle.

As many of you south, east and all over bay area know...we would all love to go ALL OVER the bay..and some of us do..but long slab rides added to the actual fun ride...well..we can't always do that..so growing a north bay population where we can quickly get together for impromptu rides..well..everyone is doing that..we just decided to add to the fun we have together with a patch to indentify our little group..nothing more serious than that! Wanna ride with us? Great? Wanna patch? No..great..yes...great..we don't care..it's just for fun!

And Koi has no sense of entitlement..by no design of his own..he became our defacto "leader" because we kinda forced him into. He was the only one consistently actually planning rides and routes..and whether anyone went on a ride with him or not..he went out riding. He stepped up to the plate big time for us and continues to do so..so yep...I worship at his feet (Yes..that was me who did that at PLP on Sunday! well..because he planned it for us noobs to keep us safe)

You guys are taking this all wayyyyyy too serious..calling us a cult..and we are all NOT a bunch of noobs..lots of experienced riders ride with us...we are not exclusionary in any way..and we just don't "stick to our own kind" because we don't want to meet anyone else..we just our expanding our little universe first as there is alot to explore up here..SHIT...we have Berryessa as our backyard playground! Weeeeeeee! :ride

Stop calling us a cult, folks..it's a freaking patch that most of you will never see as there won't be many out there in the BARF universe (not yet..our plan to take over the empire of BARF will be happening soon tho!:rofl )

If you guys need to make a patch to have a sense of belonging, more power to you I suppose. You're obviously the one taking this wayyyy tooo seriously. Just realize that you are taking this forum's name and punching it on your little group. That's cool that budman gave permission, but if you really are doing it because you guys are "misfits", why not leave barf's name off of it? Are you representing yourselves as a group of "misfits" or are you representing barf? You can't be representing both, because both ideas clash with the purpose the other is trying to represent :laughing.

I'm sorry, but YOU are the one taking this way too seriously. It all got out of hand when people like you lost or were not born with a sense of humor.

So who died and made you the almighty oracle that can proclaim, "You can't be representing both, because both ideas clash with the purpose the other is trying to represent."? You don't know me, Koi, or any of us. How dare you assume the status to comment on our "sense of belonging?" I do not know the founders of this forum and their exact intent on representation nor did I see a similar statement regarding this so-called intention in the terms and conditions when I joined almost a year ago.

FWIW, we do sometime feel like "misfits" because of what people like you claim is this alleged standard by which we shall all aspire to or be damned from BARF forever. But we remain. And we will support, respect and participate in BARF in spite of you and those who think like you. BARF is something bigger than a bunch of people riding motorized 2 or 3 wheel cycles. It's a teeny tiny microscopic part of the Internet which is greater than all of us, BARF, and cycling combined. And freedom to express yourself, other than in a private club, is revered and guarded like gold. So first respect the Internet and all of us who participate, for good or bad because it's all of our right. Then take minute and respect all BARF participants and their right to freedom of expression without threat of repression and censorship.

If you can provide me any reliable reference that prove your assertion that what we represent and what BARF represents clash, I will gladly tip my hat to you and shut the fuck up on this subject from now on. I will then delete myself from the BARF community immediately and completely. Who wants to hang around with trolls anyway?

I am sorry misfits but a little more understanding and a little less anger might get you further. All I see here is that the misfits will do anything they want to and that is that. They are angry if others have a different understanding then theirs.

Misfits try to explain yourself with out language that will piss the other side off. You might find they can do a lot for you, but if you piss them off you might find you can have a lot of shit passed your way by the bridges you burn.

DON'T FUCK WITH THE OPs they have done a lot more for BARF then you can even dream about. Help them to understand you.
